Mrs. Alvin May Mills 55 wife of H J Mills of Pandale died Sunday morning in San Angelo after weeks of illness following Christmas. Funeral services planned for Monday at 5 pm in Del Rio at First Methodist Church. Interment Westlawn Cemetery beside her 14 room Mills ranch home. Survived by husband six sons two sisters two brothers and two grandchildren.
A belated norther whipped into Texas driving temperatures down and winds to 32 mph. Dust lingered briefly as skies cleared over most of the region. Heavy dusters hit Corsicana and Lubbock overnight with temperatures falling to 42 at Lubbock.
A dust storm rolled across the Oklahoma panhandle on March 16 causing slight damage to wheat. Temperatures fell to two degrees below freezing during the morning, with farmers assessing local crop impact.
Rome March 16 Col and Mrs Charles A Lindbergh and their son Jon will spend the spring and summer at Villa Imperiale Alassio Italy. The villa owner reportedly refused rent and asked them to live there free as a tribute to the great flier. The Lindberghs are currently in England.
Buyers in the Southwest paid a top 70 cent rate for mohair with 60 cent bids in Brackettville. D. E. Hughes of Studley Emory Boston bought 150000 pounds from Petersen warehouse, pushing the year's high by 2 cents.

Governor Allred proclaims Texas Week to be observed by Del Rio Independent School District from Monday through Saturday. Texas history emphasis includes a Friday program at 3 15 p m by the history class under Miss Mary Louise Nelson, with all Del Ricans invited to attend.
Representative Chas. L. South introduced a bill to authorize establishing the American Legion National Cemetery of Texas at Legion, Texas, on March 16 in Washington.
Moore Park swimming pool season tickets will cost five dollars this year the same as last year. The price was approved Saturday by the City Park Board in regular session. The pass covers all home living family members under eighteen not including house guests. Individual swim prices for others remain unchanged five to ten cents depending on age with free entry for under six. Board members listed include E K Fawcett chairman Geo E Love E F Measels Frank Schmidt and Jas C Netts. No opening date was decided at the meeting.
The L. B. Wardlaw ranch home in Pecos River country burned to the ground while Mr. Wardlaw and his son were on the porch. The contents had been removed before the blaze destroyed the house, and two nearby buildings were also ignited and destroyed.
Capt. William P. Donovan a 39 year old assistant St Louis hospital commissioner and T F P F Quanion a 40 year old provisional judge were killed when Donovan s National Guard observation plane crashed and burned near Portage des Sioux on the Mississippi River about 16 miles north of St Louis.
Federal District Judge Robert J. McMillan convened the March term in Del Rio with James Kerr of Sanderson named grand jury foreman. The panel includes M. P. Lester, F. B. Rutledge and many others. Naturalization proceedings are planned. the Ulen Contracting Company suit against Del Rio for 6600 is expected to be called Tuesday.

Prince Serge Mdivani, former husband of Barbara Hutton and brother of Alexis Mdivani, died at 33 after a pony kicked him in the head during a polo match at Gulf Stream field near Delray Beach Florida. The incident occurred in the fourth period when his Georgians collided with the Texans captained by Cecil Smith. His wife Louise Van Alen and Alexis’s widow watched him crash and rushed to his side.
In Mexico City on March 16 three agrarian protesters were killed in separate incidents. One death occurred at Durango and two in Michoacan where police fired on several groups of agrarian demonstrators.
Alfred Molyneaux, 31, jailed in Manchester on extortion charges for trying to obtain 1000 dollars from Countess Barbara Hutton Haugwitz Reventlow by claiming to reveal a kidnapping plot. He admitted writing the letters in a low mood and said he aimed to support his wife and two children.
Harris Reedy 15, from Independence School in Livingston Tennessee, explained his absence as he cooks for his wife, 29 year old teacher Pauline Roberts. The couple wed last Monday and Reedy is keeping house while Roberts resumes classroom duties.
The forecast calls for fair and cooler conditions tonight in Del Rio and surrounding areas. Tuesday will be fair and warmer with a high near the mid 80s to 90s and a low around 60s. Yesterday’s high reached 90 and the low was 57. this morning’s low was 59, with Panhandle regions remaining cooler tonight.
Interior fair and cool with light frost possible in the Northwest and North Central tonight. Near the coast partly cloudy and colder. Tuesday should be generally fair and warmer in the North.
Athens March 16 George Patton gave a new version of the four year old grisly farm family killings after an all night interrogation. Sheriff Sweeten said Patton claimed McGehee’s club killed his son Bobbie two and that Callie McGehee and Dogie McGehee died when Patton’s weapon struck. He said Patton would be taken to Dallas to prevent mob action. Patton faces four murder charges.
Congressman Chas L South of this district wires the Standard Times that an excise tax on livestock products such as beef mutton wool and mohair is not part of the Soil Erosion Act the act aimed to succeed the AAA He says protests should be directed to Samuel B Hill chairman of the House sub committee and notes the Ways and Means committee may not recommend the tax The secretary of agriculture has no authority to compel stockmen to cooperate and the government can only offer inducements for voluntary reductions in livestock. meetings in Salt Lake and return to Washington will bring more information Friends of stockmen strive to guard their interests.
The National Wool Growers Association leaders protest to the U S House Ways and Means Committee against proposed excise taxes on domestic sheep and wool or their products. President R C Rich of Burney Idaho and Secretary F R Marshall of Salt Lake City urge that any Soil Conservation Act payments do not justify government excise taxes. The protest echoes Western Soil Conservation Conference recommendations for benefit payments to reduce herd and flock numbers to conserve grazing lands.
