San Antonio physician Dr William Henry Doty 66 formerly of Sanderson died Sunday morning in Del Rio at the Williams Sanitarium after a four day illness of double pneumonia. He helped establish Del Rio’s first hospital and had practiced in Unis city and Sanderson. He leaves a widow, a son Henry Doty of San Antonio, a granddaughter Virginia May, a Mississippi-born family, and siblings in Mississippi. Funeral Monday in Del Rio with interment in Westlawn Cemetery.
The Houston Post quotes Texas Political Comment urging careful public settlement if Congress lacks power to meet changing times. It notes public reaction to Supreme Court reorganization plans and Senators calls for constitutional amendment to empower the people to decide.
Memorial services for the late Judge James Cornell were held Saturday afternoon in Brackettville in the District Court room with Judge Brian Montague presiding. The bench featured Judge S G Taylor and Judge K K Woodley as honorary hosts while friends and jurists from West Texas attended. Cornell died January 30, 1937.

Judge R J McMillan opened the Federal District Court in Del Rio for the regular March term in the Federal Building. The court faces a light docket. Court attaches include J F Caro line as clerk, Mrs Velma Linden secretary, H W Monsand, McCollum Burnett assistant U S district attorneys, Mrs Gladys McGinnis clerk, Reed Cozart probation officer, Fleet White, W E Riggs, and Kathleen O Brien of the marshal's office.
A Friday morning family shooting at the Bell ranch near Midland leaves Mary Bell 71 Wiley Bell 46 dead and Cody Bell 44 wounded. Russell Bell sought in San Angelo as motive remains undisclosed while Horton and others are questioned. Funeral services for Mary and Wiley held at Midland. Horton released after giving a statement.
At Victoria Mill Droylsden Manchester a banana skin fiber yarn has been spun into a soft light fabric mixed with rayon. The project aims to create a warm fluffy synthetic wool suitable for silk like dress goods with low dyeing costs and potential patents.

Vatican reports Pius the 79 year old pope suffered a short period of prostration yesterday at 1030, attributed by physicians to a mild heart event or weakness amid illness. He remained able to plan attendance at Easter Sunday mass with aides preparing St Peters for his presence.
The American Legion Auxiliary will host a birthday party in the Federal building to honor a service member on a notable anniversary. A commemorative plaque will be presented by CU. Attendees are invited. program begins at 8 p.m.
