Logan County sheriff L B McKean and oil man W R Bergman from Guthry Oklahoma were arrested after a road trip ending in Del Rio. A car search found liquor and fines were paid. They claimed it was a vacation and fun, but their escape left them back home after a roadside incident near the border.

San Angelo Co op reports year's wool and mohair totals

The San Angelo Co op released annual figures at a directors meeting led by E Mayer showing total wool and mohair processed in the year reaching 7.96 million pounds. Prison Escape Captured With Pilfered Auto

James Garr, an escaped convict from the New Mexico penitentiary at Santa Fe, was halted about 15 miles from Carrizo Springs after stealing a Chevrolet. Garr, sentenced to 15 years for highway robbery, escaped March 3 and traveled into Texas by hitchhiking. He is held at Crystal City awaiting New Mexico authorities.

Rustlers Target Pecos River Ranches In Large Scale Theft

Special agents from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association aided state officers in pursuing a cattle rustling ring active along the Pecos River and across the Big Bend. The gang, about 30 members strong, reportedly steals about 150 head monthly from Fort Stockton to the Sacramento Mountains in New Mexico, loading cattle for shipment to markets and even driving stock through the Rio Grande into Mexico by night. Blood stains tie man to murder mystery in Oklahoma

Joe Davidson, 55, held as suspect in the Virginia Brooks murder case after blood stained clothing fitting a girl of the victim’s description was found with him. Eldorado Man Convicted of Death Charge

Alfredo Arredondo, about 50, was given a four year penitentiary sentence by a Schreiber County jury for the fatal Oct 15 shooting of Domingo Bueno at the McDonald ranch nine miles southwest of Eldorado. The jury deliberated two hours and reread defendant testimony during the session. Rohelia Aredondo, son of Alfredo Aredondo, faces trial tomorrow on a joint murder indictment.

Car overturns near Vinegarone injuring Del Rio women

Mrs Josie Gobble of Del Rio and Mrs M J Buckley were bruised and cut when their car went off the highway near Vinegarone, Texas. The tire blew out causing the accident late Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

John W Henderson a longtime Crockett County settler and pioneer cattleman died at 7 45 pm after a three week illness in San Angelo He led the JN Ranch brand operations across about 100000 acres and served as a bank president and director in Ozona He was born February 7 1854 in Comal County and survived by four sons and two daughters, two brothers and two sisters Funeral services were held in Ozona with Rev J H Meredith officiating.
