Eldorado residents longed for the Santa Fe first steam engine but the inaugural work train arrived a day late. By Tuesday the rail line extended a mile south of the Schreicher County courthouse after yard trackage was laid and stored.
A group of six youths with two bottles of liquor cruised around town on Tuesday night singing. They were arrested on Second Street and pleaded guilty in corporation court on Wednesday morning, paying fines and costs of 12.70 dollars each.

Clippers topped at 9.25 with most sales 80 to 925. Spring lambs around 90 pounds brought 12.50. Cattle killed opened slow with few good to choice light steers steady. Vealers steady to 50 cents lower. Bulls steady and calves steady to 10 cents higher. Crowding of 240 pound kegs up 10 cents from Tuesday. Large packers inactive.
The Texas Supreme Court in Austin set April 9 for hearing State Senator Tom Love’s bid to compel the Democratic executive committee to put his name on the primary ballot. The date was announced today.
Acting on a reunion signed by 103 voters the Crocket County commissioners court sets a $375000 road bond election for April 12. The plan aims to build 6 miles of hard surfaced road in the county and connect the 5&. T. in Uw county with the road to Barnhart. Previous vote carried 9 to 1 but bonds were halted by a fault in the election call.
Uvalde officials award a 20 block paving contract to Lone Star Construction of San Antonio for rock asphalt at about 10000 dollars. Eldorado advertises bids for three blocks on Main Street to be filed by March 18 with city clerk F M Bradley. contractor to supply all materials labor and equipment.
The docket in Federal Court will be disposed of in about a week as advicts receiver from court attaches in San Antonio Judge DuVal West announces. Joseph F. The Chamber of Commerce board discussed delegate entertainment for two meetings. Highway 90 Association meets March 27 and Federation of Womens Clubs district meets April 9 to 11. A committee led by B J McDowell handles the highway event.
A bronco rider from a carnival company was jailed after he and another rider attempted to pay for eight gallons of gasoline with a promise to pay later. They were arrested five miles from Comstock and taken to Del Rio. The carnival had been split among Crystal City Alpine and other stops.
Merced Garza charged with aggravated assault after a brawl at a San Felipe dance Sunday. He was released on 200 bond Wednesday. Terinie Guerra, who assists officers, tried to take Garza to jail when Garza allegedly used a knife, causing minor cuts to Guerra.
Stockholders of the Del Rio Country Club met Tuesday night at Walter Jones’s offices to elect seven directors. Elected were Walter Jones W S Stevenson F P Wehner A E Ross B Strahl Autry Walker and Jac Y Long. Votes were counted by a committee of C Tribble C C Wilcox and Frank Walton.
The Steinfeldt Trio with John M. Steinfeldt Jr. on violin Cecili Steinfeldt Satterfield on piano and Marie Watkins on contralto will perform Tuesday March 18 at 8 15 PM in the Central School auditorium.
Harry Shipman aged 24 died Tuesday in an Ann Arbor hospital from cerebal spinal meningitis. A Del Rio native married to Margaret Aderhold in 1928, he previously worked for Illinois Pipe Line in Del Rio and as chief clerk for a Wabash Lines executive in Detroit. Funeral plans pending as relatives travel for services.
About 500 cars of equipment and materials will be shipped to Eagle Pass for irrigation developments by Trinity Farms Construction Company and Bart Moore, Inc. The project covers canal digging through earthen sections with rock work and concrete support. A ditch digging machine from Chicago and a seven mile Southern Pacific spur repair enable delivery to the site.
A railroad locomotive explosion near Eastland yesterday killed S. B. Jones shop foreman and L. C. Roper engineer. H. F. E. Fox suffered severe burns as the crew fired the engine during the blast. The events are reported by United Press.

Janet Eastman 20 from Fort Worth Texas was named America's Sweetheart at a national contest in Miami Florida. She won over 48 competitors and received a silver cup along with a 2500 dollar prize.
Six rum runners from Mexico are jailed after a crackdown by Eagle Pass Border Patrol and local authorities. Officers recovered eighty quarts of tequila and a rifle after surrounding a suspected smuggling site near the San Antonio highway. Charles Fray, facing execution by electric chair for killing his second wife Lucille Fray in Tulsa, hanged himself in his State penitentiary cell today. He was also charged with murdering his former wife Laura Fray. the two homicides occurred on the same day.
In Sanderson on March 12, at a commissioners court meeting W. J. Banner resigned as sheriff of Terrell County. Lee Cook was appointed to fill the unexpired term and take over duties.
San Angelo voters approved a $150,000 bond for school improvements by a 481 to 370 margin. The measure required only a simple majority to pass.
James M. Coon representative of the Federal Farm Board rode with J. M. Lea of Draper and Gbmpany in Del Rio on Tuesday. Coon said he was in Texas for ten days to study wool and mohair markets and gain first hand knowledge of local ranching conditions.
Dawson County voters will decide April 8 on a second road bond issue to finance hard surfacing of State Highway No. 9 through Lamesa and State Highway No. 83, at a cost of 600000, less than half the prior amount. The measure follows petitions signed by over 250 taxpayers.
