Del Rio schools late last week began enforcing a Behn Board rule requiring vaccination certificates for all students. Those without certificates were warned of temporary expulsion within ten days. Officials noted the policy aims to prevent smallpox spread and cited Texas education law.
Guthrie sheriff L B McKean and W R Bergman from Oklahoma were arrested in Del Rio after 22 bottles of liquor were found in their roadster. Federal officers seized the cargo and planned fines of $5 per bottle, totaling about $220, with a negro suspect reported missing.
Chief Henry Bridge warned contempt charges against Parkers for overtime parking on Main Street. About a dozen violators appeared in Corporation Court. others ignored tickets. If arrests occur, offenders face fines around 12 dollars and 79 cents.
A rattlesnake bite injured Evelyn Jones of Dentonio while walking home from school in Carrizo Springs. The snake struck her on the second finger of her right hand. she received medical attention and was reported resting well and expected to recover.

San Diego March 11 Henry Lo Wahlstrom, 28, was jailed for questioning in the murder of Virginia Brooks. The 10 year old’s body was found wrapped in burlap near San Diego by a sheep herder. The hair found with the body did not match the suspect or his head.
A bank robbery in Harrah Oklahoma ended with one bandit dead and his partner fleeing in a roadster. The slain assailant, about 20, was identified as Walter Caldwell a filling station operator who fired a shotgun as the raiders left. Officials estimated the loot at two to three thousand nine hundred dollars.
A northbound Wabash Railroad passenger train No 11 wrecked near Coatesville Missouri this morning. Six cars left the tracks and several overturned after a broken rail. one passenger was severely injured.
Governor Sterling signed the Cunningham bill authorizing county loans up to 15000 dollars for seed and feed purchases in drought areas. The measure aims to bolster farming relief across the state.
Hartford lawmakers report the legislative judiciary committee learned under existing statutes the life of a dog or horse is valued higher than a human life. Rep. Joseph Lawrence protested a bill capping human life damages at 10000 while leaving animal damages unlimited.

Warrants naming Alexander Pantages John P Millis William Jobermann and Mrs Olive Clark Day were received at the sheriff s office from San Diego. The four are charged with statutory assault conspiracy to commit statutory assault and conspiracy to violate juvenile court laws. They are to be arrested and held for San Diego authorities following an investigation of a love market supplying girls for weekend parties.
Secretary of the Interior Wilbur signed authorization to build the Hoover Dam and power plant on the Black Canyon of the Colorado River. Six Companies Inc, a Pacific Coast consortium, won with a bid of 48,890,999 dollars.
In Media Pennsylvania John H. Rosen leaves a will asking his widow and two children to renounce the Rosen surname and adopt the widow’s maiden name Clayton. He says the Rosen name has been a constant source of annoyance. The widow did not comment.
Virts Kirkland 20, former high school football star, found guilty of murder in the slaying of 18 year old Arlene Draves at a Valparaiso liquor party. Jury verdict mandates life imprisonment. Four other youths charged with attacking Draves to be tried separately.
General Enrique Santibanez 68 Mexican coast general hero died last night after a long illness. Requiem high mass will be held tomorrow. A special train will convey the consul's body to Mexico City after the services. He previously served as Mexican minister to Czechoslovakia before coming to the United States three years ago. City and county officials along with state representatives will attend the rites.
The March 1 USDA livestock report notes Texas ranges in splendid condition with 66 percent rated good or better, an 8 point gain from February. Cattle and sheep grazing is expected to begin earlier and be abundant this year, reflecting improved livestock health and forage prospects.
Miss M Louise Baker, a noted archeological painter from George School, will travel to Yucatan to paint recently unearthed Maya pottery under the direction of the University of Pennsylvania Museum. The trip marks a major expedition for field study and art.

Neelo Polo Pony raised and trained by RS Waring and Dick Nans of San Angelo was sold to C W Wheelwright of Baltimore for 1000 dollars. Additional 280 dollars were paid for express charges. The San Angelo firm has seen several similar sales and is prospering in polo pony trade.
Retail price of gasoline dropped in Del Rio on Wednesday as Texaco reduced by two cents. By afternoon stations were selling at 18 cents a gallon from 19 cents, with R. M. Crosby announcing the cut. It was unclear if a wider price war was involved and no other firms had announced reductions by 2 PM.
In Blois on March 11, the Bishop issued guidance to priests warning that religious services must not become social events or showcases for personal publicity. He stresses the sacred character of churches and ceremonies and forbids advertising musical artists who partake in religious rites.
State highway men reported Highway 90 from San Antonio through Del Rio to El Paso is in first class condition. They denied circulated reports of a bad stretch from Alpine to the west. Gib Gilchrist and DD Martin visited Matia and praised the road, saying San Antonio to Alpine took seven hours and Alpine to Maria twenty minutes. They noted Highway 9 has excellent drainage and stays open year round.
The new law grants post office workers a half holiday on a chosen weekday, with Saturdays preferred, starting July 1. Del Rio figures the cost at about $1,200 yearly, as offices may hire substitutes to maintain postal service. If schedules can not be arranged, workers receive midweek time off.
The first issue of the Texas Sheriffs Association magazine profiles B. J. McDowell longtime U S Marshal and Del Rio postmaster. It also features M L Bud Whistler Val Verde County sheriff noted for avoiding arrests and Henry Bridge Del Rio police chief in separate articles.

They toured the 5000 mile Santa Fe system and noted no timetable for the Sonora to Del Rio work though a future extension might boost traffic. Storey heard of Del Rio prospects and Villa Acuna traffic while another party headed to Clinton Oklahoma.
Dr J M Brinkley a Milford Kansas goat gland specialist lands at the municipal airport to tour Villa Acuna and Del Rio as potential sites for a border broadcasting station. He has Mexican approval to contract a station anywhere on the border and may consider Monterrey Juarez and other towns. He will be met by a Del Rio Chamber of Commerce delegation and escorted to Villa Acuna for talks with local business leaders.
Prowlers gained entry to Natt Holman at 603 Losila Tuesday night and obtained a check made out to Mr Holman by Judge Belcher for 35 dollars. Orders to stop payment were issued. Nothing else of value was reported taken.
Charles S year old son of Mr and Mrs H Kappelman received a painful injury to the right forearm about 830 PM yesterday when accidentally stabbed by a pair of scissors. The wound is not serious and he is receiving medical care.
Warm spell continues with tonight and Thursday partly cloudy and warmer. Yesterday’s high 68, low 41. Forecast calls for warmer conditions in Del Rio and surrounding West Texas, with cloudier skies and continued warmth Thursday.
