A young man threatened to blow up the electric company building and, in a bold lobby hold up at 10 30 a m today, escaped with $300 from the Texas Electric Company in Fort Worth. In Austin the House passed a bill to remit counties state ad valorem taxes for general revenue by a 68 to 54 vote. A special committee on education urged appointing the superintendent of public instruction rather than election due to dissen tion between the state board of education and the department of education.
Texas 1936 wool production reached 64.265 million pounds, led by 7.79 million sheep shorn at 8.2 pounds per fleece. National output totaled 426.527 million pounds with 45.635 million sheep shorn. Roy Hudspeth of Sonora opposes HB 113 taxing livestock to fund anti theft patrols, favoring voluntary county associations and inspections.

Ella Dee Everett age 15 months died Sunday morning at her home from pneumonia after measles. Funeral services were held Monday at 3 PM from the residence with Rev L L Gilbert of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Theta Bruno Hone Blin. She was born in Del Rio on December 4 1955 and survived by her parents Tonune Everett and Tonu, a sister, paternal grandfather Tom Everett, maternal grandmother Mrs Kk A Pasne of Del Rio, great grandmother Mrs S S Dodson of Victoria, along with numerous aunts uncles and cousins in Del Rio and other nearby areas. The family noted numerous relatives from various regions attended the service.
The Supreme Court delayed final rulings on the Wagner Labor Relations Act and Washington minimum wage cases until at least next Monday. The court also postponed reconsideration of a four to four ruling upholding unemployment insurance law. Halstead L. Ritter lost his challenge to Senate impeachment proceedings, removing him as Federal District Judge of Southern Florida.
A light earthquake struck San Francisco at 2 32 a m lasting five minutes with buildings rocked but no damage reported. The tremor was felt more in Oakland and other East Bay cities causing brief disturbance across the region.
The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce launches a two day membership campaign Tuesday and Wednesday under chair C B Dutch Wardlaw. The drive aims to secure support for a common railroad point, the Vila Acuna Saltillo highway as a tourist draw, and highway improvements into and from Del Rio. Wardlaw's committee plans to engage the business district to back these projects through local participation.
Detroit reports a sit down strike at Hudson Motor Company halting work in several departments and affecting about 5,500 employees. In Flint a strike hit four divisions of Chevrolet Motor Company, involving around 7,000 of 14,500 workers.
Cameron County inmate Demetrio Gonzales 25 serving a murder sentence walked off the Blue Ridge prison farm where convicts scare crows. The escape marks another unusual incident as the man left during a routine task described in prison slang as herding the birds.
A collision on the Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo highway about 50 miles north of Monterrey left eight injured and several dead. Victims include John Russell of Dallas 42 Weldom Osborn 24 and Miss Katherine Gillespie 30, daughters of local residents, and two Mexicans. Six Mexicans aboard the truck were injured as well as William Bills and Miss Josephine Evans passengers in the car. The crash occurred last night and victims were rushed to a hospital.
Albemarle County officials seek additional evidence to bolster Dr. R. G. Miller's signed statement about the alleged murder of Cleo Sprouse. Miller remains jailed in Richmond after prosecutors criticized his chloroform account as incomplete. Autopsy suggested the girl would have become a mother in five months.
Dr W W Nipper of Brackettville was appointed foreman of the Kinney County Grand Jury Monday morning as the district court opened in Brackettville Judge K K Woodie of Uvalde head of the 8th Judicial District is in Brackettville on business.
Mr W Easterling of Del Rio returned home Sunday from Lampasas where she attended funeral services for her aunt Mrs Abney. She had been with her aunt for some time before her death after a lingering illness. Mrs Abney died Wednesday evening. Funeral services were held Thursday. Surviving with Mrs Easterling are J Herbert J Abney, editor and publisher of the Lampasas Daily and Weekly Leader.
