E S Mayer of San Angelo said the National Wool Growers Association seeks a Reconstruction Finance Corp loan to fund wool marketing efforts. The request, about 20 million dollars, awaits approval and hearings across wool states. Mayer, Wilson, Johns, and Brown push for a marketing agreement with Farm Administration backing. Do not aim to declare wool a basic commodity. USDA says no steps toward a processing tax. Jones doubts such policy.
The Ways and Means Committee voted 23 to 1 to submit the Vinson Bonus payment bill to the House. A substitute using Patman currency extension may be offered on the floor. Chairman Daughton said a formal report will not go to the House until next Monday.
Eight local apparel stores met in the Chamber of Commerce to finalize plans for a style show tied to My Day. The event is set for March 20 at the High School auditorium with music and entertainment between model parades.

Milburn, born Mount Vernon Illinois, never married. survivors include his father, a brother A E Milburn of Clovis New Mexico, and two aunts in St Louis.
A supper will be held in the assembly room of the Chamber of Commerce to finalize plans for the annual round-up. Men will hear crew and foreman assignments as March 12 to 14 are set for the event.
Organization of a Federal Savings and Loans Bank completed in Alice with C. D. Jones, local businessman, as president. The bank has 42,500 dollars in local share subscriptions and three times that amount from the federal government to promote home building through long term loans. Board consists of nine directors.
Bryant Baxter of Brownwood purchased 1,380 fall lambs at prices from five to six dollars a head. He bought 280 ewe lambs from J. B. Moore for five dollars each while Gilbert Marshall sold 1,100 lambs from a 3,000 head flock for six dollars. The sheep were loaded for shipment to Oklahoma to be fattened and marketed.
In Anhwei Southern province three million people across 6000 square miles face famine the worst in years. Missionaries report a growing death toll as droughts last summer spread across most of China. George Birch of China Inland Mission says children as young as one year are sold for one dollar.
In Havana on March 7 the government faced a widening labor revolt as workers in the labor treasury and education ministries quit. Public works and public health staff halted operations, three hundred soldiers occupied Havana University grounds to end the universitys autonomy.
The Fagle Pass Lumber Yard at Quemado burned Thursday morning at 3 o'clock causing an estimated loss of 9 000 to 10 000 dollars. Manager Jim Bradley was asleep in the building and escaped unharmed. Cause of the fire is unknown.
Lansing reports that 2,775,100 of 2,939,409 taxpayers faced arrest for missing a $2 head tax funding old age pensions. welfare director Dillman says counties show little action. several bills seek pension financing changes.
Salt River Valley wool sale to Eastern points reports 110000 pounds sold for 15 to 15 1/2 cents per pound. The 1935 crop's first clip sells much lower than last year's 30 cents due to large carryover stocks in Eastern warehouses.
The House rejected 71 to 66 a plan to control liquor traffic through a state monopoly. Meanwhile the Senate dry bloc warned it could block repeal submission unless a definite control plan is set out.
Secretary of State Gerald C. Mann and Attorney General William McCraw will address the Overton Chamber of Commerce banquet on Thursday night March 7. About four hundred people are expected, making it the largest event of its kind in the oil region each year.
A premature explosion last night at an unfinished oil well killed 10 people and injured a dozen as nitroglycerine charge detonated. The blast tore the derrick from moorings and hurled it into a crowd five miles south of St. George, scattering bodies and triggering a mass scramble to escape the fire. Among the dead were Mr and Mrs George Alsop, general manager of Arrowhead Oil Corporation.
Postmaster Ray Ross announced changes in local mail schedules. Mail will arrive by bus at 12 30 p m instead of 1 30 p m and depart Del Rio at 4 p m instead of 4 30 p m. The San Antonio tie out moves to 3 30 p m to speed delivery for the Rio Grande Valley and Winter Garden District.
Donald Richberg urged the Senate Finance Committee to extend the NRA in its present form for two years while limiting codes to trades and industries actually engaged in interstate commerce. He proposed presidential power to impose limited codes with minimum wages maximum hours bans on unfair practices and natural resource protections.
Pi Houston Barker, wanted for robbery in San Antonio, was captured near San Angelo after a night in the country west of the city. He suffered facial wounds from a clash with McCamey officers and was treated at a ranch. Ranger Jim Rooney and McCamey Police Chief Fred Senter were fired upon by Barker with a machine gun, wounding Rooney under the chin and grazing Senter.
Sheriff’s officers protected the Devils River highway overnight seeking Houston Barker of San Saba after he wounded a McCamey police officer and fled. Barker allegedly shot his way free, robbed a teacher of her car near McCamey, and was seen near the White and Baker Ranch after donning blue clothing. Fort Stockton, Iraan, and McCamey posses hunted the hillside area.
Funeral services for 15 year old Joy Wyatt were held in Medina under the direction of Doran Funeral Home. Joy died of heart disease at 3 a.m. Wednesday after treatment in Del Rio. She was a Langtry High School junior born in Electra and lived on the J. H Fisher ranch. Survivors include her parents and a 90 year old maternal grandfather.
