A fire tore through a five story hotel today killing three people and injuring ten. A man and woman on the top floor died in the blaze while another occupant suffocated in smoke. At discovery there were about one hundred guests. origin of the fire was not yet known.
Austin reported that Bobbitt of Laredo announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for attorney general. He currently serves as an appointed attorney general, noted for his activity in Del Rin and during trial work with Gov Dan Meads.

Funeral services were held here for W. A. Salter 45 publisher of the Kerrville Mountain Sun who died Tuesday after months of illness. He came to Kerrville in 1922 and was an officer in the World War II era 142nd infantry band. Survivors include his wife Camilla and son Forest, his mother Mrs M Salter of Norman Oklahoma, four brothers and two sisters.
The revival at First Baptist Church led by Evangelist Woon Y Pond drew larger crowds both morning and evening. Pond, a former railroad engineer, used railroad imagery to preach that only Jesus Christ’s atonement provides true rest. Sessions run nightly at 7 30 and mornings at 10 00 through Sunday with Friday honoring railroad workers and a future talk on a wide gauge train on a narrow gauge track. A visiting ministers’ quartet will sing Life’s Railway to Heaven. Public invitation extended.
Former President Calvin Coolidge and Mrs Coolidge traveled on the Southern Pacific through Del Rio at 11 30 PM Wednesday en route to San Antonio and Massachusetts. Governor Dan Moody and Mrs Moody joined sixty prominent Texans for breakfast in San Antonio Thursday. An informal reception of Del Rio residents greeted them two weeks earlier on their Westward trip.
Fortunato Dozal of Mexico City says the government aims to obtain its portion of Rio Grande waters. He travels from Del Rio to inspect Mexican federal irrigation projects along the river, including Balcones, Maverick County, La Santena, and Don Martin sites, as part of broader cross border water plans and repatriation efforts.
Water users on Main Street area lose service Thursday afternoon while repairs are made to a fire plug at Main and Garfield. Superintendent Herzing says work should finish in hours. Faulty plug caused flooding on the east side of Main Street and other outlets were out of order but minimal interruption is expected.
A man named G. K. Parker, 21, was arrested near Del Rio with 122 pints of habanero Mexican brandy in a Chrysler. Parker, in jail on $1,000 bond, says the run was his third contraband trip. The case, involving other arrests for liquor, now awaits federal court action.
Three men killed on the Will Rogers estate near a wrecked bi plane were identified as Morey Johnson 26 a tailor and ex flight instructor Eugene Lavoie 38 a pilot and Milton Hogge 35 another pilot. They left an airport in Los Angeles for a ten minute ride when heavy rain hit and the plane struck a knoll.
Serafio Martinez was discharged from Del Rio Hospital and Clinic after recuperation from a minor operation last week. J. D. Thompson, cashier at Piggly Wiggly Inc., underwent an operation for appendicitis Thursday morning at Del Rio Hospital and Clinic.
Three men faced corporation court Thursday for drunkenness and paid fines plus costs of 12.70 each before release. Two men nabbed forped dling merchandise without permits were sent to city hall to obtain permits and fined five dollars each. They were selling brooms and household articles.
Alabama has led wild turkey production for a decade with strong hen protection across all seasons. A survey by the Wildlife Turkey Conservation League ranks Alabama and Texas as the top producers, surpassing neighboring states.
The San Felipe Independent School District will vote March 29 on issuing fifty thousand dollars in bonds for a new high school building to relieve congestion in two existing campuses. The election will be held at School No. 1 in San Felipe with a single ballot box. Public notices were posted by the sheriff s department and the district board members signed the order.

A maniac with a 12 gauge shotgun terrorized Brackettville for days as four indictments were returned for related offenses. In Austin on March 6 the re trial of former appellate judge John W Brady for the slaying of court stenographer Lehlia Highsmith was scheduled for Monday April 14. A venue of 500 was ordered.
