Last rites were conducted Thursday at First Methodist Church Quemado Valley for Mrs Clytie Ren Martin age 25 with Rev Belcher officiating. Burial followed at Quemado Valley Cemetery under Doran Funeral Home Del Rio direction. She died Wednesday in a local hospital after an extended illness. Survivors include her parents Mr and Mrs J P Hatcher of Quemado Valley and her two children.
Joe King displayed a gigantic egg laid by a white Leghorn hen on Friday. The egg measures seven and a half by eight and a half inches and weighs a quarter of a pound. When moved it sounds as if a second egg is inside the first.
The Villa Acuna Rotary Club elected Raymundo Rivero president and Dr Simon Rodriguez vice president at a Toltec Cafe meeting. Dionisio Gonzalez became secretary treasurer, Olegario Lasoya Jr sergeant at arms, with Victoriana Garcia and Arnulfo Ramon as directors. About 29 members attended from Del Rio and Piedras Negras. Rotary International paperwork was sent to Chicago and Mexico City.
A chimney fire at 401 Peirce Street caused no damage and drew the De Rio Fire Department at noon Friday. The property is owned by Julius Franks and rented out to occupants with no injuries reported.

Mrs Robert B Homan of El Paso, president of the State Medical Society Auxiliary, met with Dr Elizabeth Donaldson in Del Rio to discuss forming an auxiliary for the Nine Counties Medical Society. A meeting in Eagle Pass next week will advance the plan and invite members.
