Work on the Del Rio municipal air field hangar nears completion with officials from Webb Ruff Flying School stating the field is nearly finished and smooth as a billiard table. The facility will hold about six ships and local crews report strong improvements for students and state morale.
The United States Senate will lose six colorful figures on March 4 along with seven others. Names include J Thomas Heflin Alabama a Democratic foe of Lenith. Wen free on bond of 500 dollars after the shooting of Jack Terry at their business on Devil's River road. Owen Werthesday appeared at preliminary arraignment with witnesses questioning by county attorney and defense, bond set by Justice of the Peace Charles Miller. Terry, shot four times, is recovering at home. witnesses described sobriety and lack of provocation while Adolpho DePalma testified to intoxication and threats before the gunfire.

Morice Coulis was killed and Leon Kethley A C Misner and J H Comrville were seriously injured at the Texas Company refinery in Port Arthur while attempting to start a fire in a cold tube still. The incident occurred early today and involved refinery workers.

President Hoover signed a bill imposing a ten cent per pound tax on all colored oleomargarine both natural and artificial. Western dairy interests say the levy will bring millions of dollars to the dairy industry.
A Bandera producer selling 1931 spring mohair without Del Rio meeting approval triggered a panic across Texas warehouses. R. M. Johnson deputy U S internal revenue collector toured Del Rio on Wednesday to assist taxpayers with their 1931 income tax reports. He planned to visit Sanderson on Thursday and remain in the Federal Building offices of the U S district attorney through Friday. Johnson urged early arrivals to avoid the rush.
Enumerators appointed by county school superintendent Mrs Marie Grande Adams started census work this week surveying Val Verde County school students. City and county school counts will be compiled and the survey is expected to finish soon with district volunteers handling various areas.
