Thieves entered the Carruthers residence at 501 Johnson Street while the family was away at their Sanderson country ranch and stole only new clothing including unworn dresses of Mrs Carruthers and Eva. The incident coincides with a separate burglary at 606 East Losella Street where Miss Anne Wilson’s graduation gifts were taken.
In Michigan City Indiana on June 10 William Kuchlan Frank Williams and Joseph Poholsky, former Ohio convicts, were electrocuted for the mutilation murder of Harry Miller a retired Cincinnati fire captain. Miller disappeared June 11 last year with body parts found later in a culvert and lake.
Washington June 16 the senate accepted a conference report extending the Connally hot oil bill for two years. Hal le Germany June 10 a mysterious fire at a freight depot killed at least five, injured four, nine missing, destroying 120 loaded freight cars and 45 empties. London June 10 Britain refused Soviet Russia's request to join talks on safety guarantees for warships patrolling Spanish waters.
The Court of Criminal Appeals ruled bank nights are lotteries but Del Rio theatres will still award $200 tonight at the Princess and Strand. Paul J. Poag of R and R Theatres says bank night is illegal but weekly prizes will continue as before. The Bonham case upheld a $100 fine for lottery law violation and rejected the idea that no ticket purchase is required to win.
London June 10 Sir John Simon Britain's new Chancellor of the Exchequer today quelled rumors of an immediate return to the gold standard In a Commons challenge he said he saw no need for a new declaration of policy at the present time and succeeds Neville Chamberlain now prime minister in the Conservative government.

They differed on how the act would protect consumers and industry alike though most supported the general aim. Senator Capper noted Kansas support for informing buyers about fabric contents.
San Angelo report covers a sale of 3 109 000 pounds of long and short wool in West Texas. Prices ranged from 30 to 33 1 2 cents per pound. Purchases included 12 000 pounds eight months at 31 cents by JM Lea and 250 000 pounds twelve months at 33 1 2 cents plus 40 000 pounds eight months at 30 cents by Tom Richey for A W Hilliard & Company.
Paris native Maurice Duperrey 59 was elected president of Rotary International at the Paris convention and will lead the 29th annual meeting next year in San Francisco. A founder of a chemical products company, he has served Rotary since 1929 and was second vice president in 1933. He was nominated by Otto Fischer of Stuttgart with outgoing president Will R. Manier Jr presiding. Delegates from multiple industries chaired meetings. Dr. John R. Brinkley also attends.
In Chicago a youth bought a 10 cent handkerchief then used it as a mask to hide his identity while he and a companion locked the tailor shop owner three employees and a customer in the basement. They looted the safe of 1110 dollars and two rings valued at 275 dollars.

In Youngstown Ohio a six hour clash broke out as police and deputies used tear gas and clubs against pickets. Several hundred strikers gathered as a food-laden truck bound for Republic Steel was blocked amid a seven state strike.
A London man identified as George Southcombe 2 was found dead in his office yesterday after apparently modifying a fire extinguisher and firing a cartridge. Authorities say he removed the cylinder, substituted a cartridge, and detonated it with the extinguisher hammer.
