Cuban billionaire Antonio San Miguel was kidnapped. His valet Simon Arleta, captured with two other servants, delivered a ransom letter to attorney Pedro Herrera Sotolongo. Police seized Arleta and learned that San Miguel’s associates sent $286,000 in American money to meet the ransom demand.

Roy Bruce formerly of Del Rio was critically injured Wednesday in San Antonio after a fall from a third story building where he worked. Hospital staff believed he sustained a serious back injury. His mother, Mrs. T. S. Bruce, left at once after receiving a wire from the city.

Nearly 2,000 flood victims are homeless in North Lawrence Kaw and surrounding farms as the Missouri River spills into 125 square miles of eastern Missouri. The Sanderson Wool Commission Company announces a sealed bid sale on June 13 at 10 a.m. in its Sanderson warehouse. About 250000 pounds of 12 month wool and 50000 pounds of eight month wool will be offered.
