Truett E. Rowe a Justice Department agent from El Paso was fatally wounded while arresting Guy E. Osborne an escaped convict at a farm house 20 miles south of Gallup New Mexico. Chief of Police Kelsey Presley accompanied Rowe, Osborne emerged with a pistol and fled. Osborne was captured nearby and held at McKinley County jail. Rowe died from his injuries after the shooting.
