A Senate committee in Austin began a study of state finances to assess economies and the efficiency of legislative appropriations. The panel opened by interviewing Governor Allred as part of its initial inquiries.
The House labor committee revised the administration wage hour bill to give a proposed standards board power to set minimum wages up to 70 cents an hour and a maximum 35 hour week. Senate debate continued on allowances for the board to fix wages no higher than a set amount and hours no lower than 40. Chairman Norton voted to break a tie, and the changes were drafted by Representative Wood.
Henry Seale was appointed a member of the Del Rio Park Board Thursday morning to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Jas C Netts. Other members include F. K. Pawcett as chairman Geo FE Love as vice chairman E. F Measels and Fire Chief Frank Schmidt. Netts had served as secretary for the first six years of the board. Mayor Thos M. Johnson made the appointment.
