Federal Judge Edgar S. Vaught sentenced Denver attorney Ben B. Laska to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in the Urschel kidnapping case. Laska appealed to the United States Circuit Court in Denver after denial of his motion for a new trial.
C R Morrill superintendent of the San Antonio division of the Southern Pacific Lines since 1931 will retire August 1 on pension after 43 years with the line. He will be succeeded by B S Holliman with offices in Ennis and Dallas.
Denver reports the 13 western states including Colorado Wyoming Montana and New Mexico show lamb crops ranging from poor to steady. New Mexico stays near last year while west central and northwest ranges are good but eastern districts face dry feed. Winter and spring ewes losses slightly above average. Overall 2,000,000 lambs fewer than last year, smallest since 1927.
The Senate tabled the motion by Senator McNary for adjournment of Congress by August 10 by a 52 to 10 vote in Washington.

Mrs Annabel Lee Gatlin a pastor at First Christian Church faces charges of cattle and horse theft in San Saba and Menard. Her husband Cecil Gatlin is jailed on horse theft charges. Bail set at 3000 dollars with 1500 on each complaint. Sheriff reports six of eight horses recovered from local ranches. Gatlin known for revival work across West Texas and previously active as Annabel Lee in Del Rio.

The forecast calls for generally fair weather with showers likely in the southeast tonight and on Tuesday. Cloudy skies and thunder showers are expected in the south during the same period.
Del Rio experienced unusually high humidity and heat on Sunday and Monday. At 7 am Monday humidity reached 47 percent, about 27 points above typical for a 76 degree day, as U S weather observer H L Molyneux noted. Peak Sunday temperature hit 93 degrees at 5 pm.
