Dominicio Pedrotti 91 father of Dan Pedrotti of this city died Sunday at his San Antonio home. Funeral services were held Monday in San Antonio. A founder of the Italian St Joseph Society he had lived in San Antonio 43 years. He is survived by three additional sons and four daughters. Accompanying Dan Pedrotti to the funeral were John Qualia and Frank Bolner.
Democratic leaders dismissed Senator Borah's claim that inflationary pressure drives the Patman bonus and Frazier Lemke refinancing bills to be attached to the administration tax bill. Senate leaders Robinson and Barkley say they will not act on these measures this session and favor adjournment by August 15.
American missionaries at Huping College in Yochow Hunan reported a Japanese gunboat fired on July 18. The attack targeted the college building and foreign residences with softnosed bullets near Tungting Lake, endangering many lives.

A Del Rio man’s small coupe lost its rear axle while turning a corner at Main and West Lasella Street. The axle failure caused the left rear wheel to come off and the car to mount the sidewalk by the First National Bank Building. No injuries were reported in the 1 PM incident.
Two Texas Centennial Historical Advisory Board members resign after the Centennial Commission of Control allocates 250000 of a 750000 fund to Fort Worth for state observances and a livestock exhibit. Kemp and Fr Paul Foix warn the move harms smaller communities. allocations also earmarked 50000 for Gonzales and 50000 for Goliad with Fort Worth needing 1250000 more locally.
J Frank Dobie UT professor and historical advisory board member warns of resignation over Fort Worth receiving 250000 for a Centennial livestock exhibit. He says the commission overrode the board and questions future recommendations and political trades, planning to discuss with Lou Kemp before moving.
Galveston July 22 The four state senator T J Holbrook a leader in the fight for 3 000 000 State Centennial appropriation expresses sharp indignation at the Centennial Control Commission action in allotting 250 000 to Fort Worth for a livestock exposition In a letter to L W Kemp congratulating him for resigning from the Centennial historical board in protest Holbrook says politics influenced the commission toward North Texas.

Del Rio fire chief Harry Arfman reports tannic acid as an emergency burn treatment after attending a training course at A and M College. The acid forms a protective film, provides pain relief, and is applied via tea infusion. a disinfectant is advised first. The visit also supported a one-cent key rate reduction, saving about $500 on insurance for Del Rio residents.

The Senate adopted 60 to 17 an amendment by Senator La Follette to the AAA bill allowing the President to modify import quotas and raise tariffs to protect farm prices, replacing the House provision that would have improved quotas and increased tariffs on depressed farm commodities.

Sherman 26 Sutton choir singer and scoutmaster pleaded not guilty to drowning his wife Alice 23 mother of two by overturning a canoe on Lake Singletary Saturday night He had previously confessed to drowning her to impress a 17 year old factory girl assigned to a factory job.

They blacklist 21 House members and 9 senators and announce plans to campaign in Maine, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia using sound trucks as their weapons. They seek re election while targeting “conservative friends” in primary campaigns next year.

Herman Huebner will act as chief in his absence.
Clayton Dameron seven, son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Dameron of Rankin, is severely injured from a rock top that fell on his left instep at the home of Mr and Mrs Marvin Ellis in North Heights. He was rushed to Del Rio by his aunt Mrs Henry Mills from the Mills ranch in Dryden country. Doctors report the wound runs full length of the instep and is too swollen to close.
