Directors of Central Power and Light Company declare dividends on preferred stock payable August 1, 1935 to holders of record at close of business July 15, 1935. The 7¢ cumulative preferred stock will receive 43¢ per share and the 6¢ cumulative preferred stock 37¢ per share.
A city commission called session approved an ordinance to seek a state park on lands donated by the county along San Felipe Creek between Highway 90 and the railroad. Eight acres of San Felipe Springs land will be added for beautification and maintenance, with a new pump house to replace the existing facility and work to begin immediately.
More than 30 persons were injured in a brief clash at the John Morrell Packing Plant in Sioux Falls as union workers confronted nonstriking employees. Two injuries were serious, with lacerations and bruises reported from a hand to hand battle near the picket lines. Hershel Byllesby and Harry Clausen were among the most seriously hurt.
A riot during a Washington lumber strike left six injured and more than 40 arrests. Ras-masked guardsmen with clubs and bayoneted rifles charged a skirmish tightening under a store marquee as tear gas dispersed the crowd and ended the clash.
Detroit reports Merton Ward Goodrich pleaded guilty to the murder of 11 year old Lillian Galla and was sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labor at Michigan’s Marquette prison. The plea followed testimony by Dr. David R. Clark that Goodrich was sane.
Uvalde in July reports blowflies and screw worm causing heavy losses to sheep goats and cattle. Smaller ranches see daily deaths while larger operations expect extreme losses. A rancher cites 100 dead goats with others dying daily.
E. W. Howe, 82, editor from Atchison Kansas, recovering from eye surgery, says the New Deal is foul and Roosevelt is losing his grip on the country. He cites widespread doubt among workers, executives and Democrats and warns of possible revolution if spending and tax plans continue. He mocks the president as a gushing sentimentalist and criticizes the forgotten man phrase as empty.
Eagle Pass July 19 The public auction of station XER in Villa Acuna planned for July 15 at Piedras Negras has been suspended. Attorney Agustin Barrera obtained a definite suspension from District Judge Pedro Caballero of Piedras Negras without bond. Barrera cites Mexican constitution articles to argue fines cannot be collected as the current owners have no link to the former fines. Protests were sent to Mexican treasury officials. Barrera predicts the giant station will resume broadcasting soon.
SAN ANGELO July 19 An additional million pounds of wool moved in West Texas over the past week at 22 to 27 cents for 12 month clips and 22 cents for eight month clips The largest sale was 250000 pounds of eight month wool by Bandera County Ranchmen and Farmer's association at 22 cents. Spring wool is arriving late due to washed roads and heat. some wool sold directly to dealers. London auction gains suggest Texas prices may rise further as remaining stock is expected to move quickly.
GRAND SALINE July 19 Constable Percy Carnes and S J Chandler Jr were charged with cattle theft after officers and three citizens fired into an automobile containing three cows. Two men fled the car and Carnes and Chandler were arrested five hours later.

Berlin reports Magnus Vonlevetzow resigns after pressure over anti Jewish actions. Count Von Helldorf appointed police president amid Nazi battles with Protestant and Catholic church factions. National Zeitung warned Protestants hard fight against Reich bishop Mueller and German Christian Nazis. Helldorf previously led anti Jewish demonstrations in 1929 at Kurfürstendamm.
Nearly an inch of rain fell in Del Rio early Friday as showers covered the region. Del Rio recorded 0.98 inches, with the heaviest downpour between 3 and 4 am, bringing the area to more than 15 inches above normal for the year per weather observer H. L. Molyneux. Rain also fell across Brackettville Cline Spofford and Uvalde with varying amounts, while Lazier and Ozona reported slow steady rainfall and San Felipe Creek rose about a foot.
Widespread military preparation for a general mobilization order was reported throughout Ethiopia. Unconfirmed reports spoke of a new incident on the northern frontier, but the Foreign Ministry could not provide a certified report on specifics.
Central Power and Light Company lighting engineer M. H. Camp is in the city offering free surveys for commercial and industrial establishments. He will inspect each building, identify ways to improve lighting, and recommend a permanent lighting program. Businessmen should contact the local CP&L office to arrange a report.
Fort Worth dispatch reports three youths died when their motorcycle collided with a wagon on State Highway No 2 about a mile south of the city. The riders were David Hunter 17 Jesse Russell 23 and Roger Beckman 22. The crash occurred early. The motorcycle struck the wagon rear and overturned.
