Addis Ababa July 17 authorities expect a general mobilization order to be issued by Emperor Haile Selassie when he addresses Parliament tomorrow. The Foreign Ministry said Ethiopia’s minister to Paris would adhere to the International Red Cross convention. Troops were sent to frontiers while training troops received new arms uniforms and war-tactics instruction.
The Abilene Daily Reporter experiences a rare delay due to a broken Duplex press cog feeding machine. About 600 copies were printed before the accident, with expert mechanics from inside and outside the Reporter-News organization rectifying the issue. The Evening News aims to avoid late delivery this year, noting two late days in 1933 and one in 1934.

Funeral services set for Wednesday at 5 30 p m from Doran Funeral Chapel with body brought to Del Rio in a Doran hearse.
Washington July 17 The House Labor Committee approved a bill to set a 30 hour week and end child labor in industries supplying goods across state lines. The measure creates a Federal commission to license all industry using interstate trade channels and would replace the NRA according to Chairman Connery.
In Belfast riots, graveyard fighting broke out as factions clashed during a burial. Three people were beaten amid the Protestant Catholic confrontation. In Tacoma, Margaret Thulin Waley, 19, was sentenced to 20 years for involvement in the George Weyerhaeuser kidnapping case, with motions denied.
Seattle report notes a 2000 delegate convention of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs. Speakers say women have a future in business and professions from medicine to journalism with jobs requiring effort to obtain. Dr. Evelyn Frisbie asserts women in medicine must excel to beat male rivals. Charl Williams cites education sector wage and rank pressures affecting women teachers.
In Mason on July 17 observers report black widow spiders face threats from dirt daubers and scorpions. A large widow captured by G W Bird in a glass jar at a drug store watched a scorpion kill its legs and devour the rest.
Mrs. William E. Talbot of Dallas and her son Bill Edward presented a Texas made cotton suit to President Roosevelt for the 1936 Centennial. They urged the president to wear it during any Texas visit as a courtesy to Southern constituents.
Funeral services for John Fletcher Lancaster 87 longtime Del Rio resident were held Tuesday at 5 p m at the Doran Funeral Chapel. Rev L C Beasley officiated with burial in Westlawn Cemetery. He died Monday at 3 30 p m from complications after a fractured hip. He was the last survivor of seven siblings born in Texas in 1848 and a pioneer cattle driver who moved to Del Rio in 1931 to live with his daughter. He leaves a widow and three sons along with numerous grandchildren great grandchildren and other relatives.
Scattered rainfall Tuesday brought Del Rio about .01 inch with surrounding areas seeing one to two inches. Thunder and lightning preceded the showers with a strip west to Devil's River recording around one inch. Carta Valley and Loma Alta reported about two inches.
Henry L. Mencken returned from Europe and urged that America needs a king not a dictator or Roosevelt. He suggested Roosevelt could be king after 1936 and floated other names while noting he has shifted focus to biology and anthropology since leaving The American Mercury.
President Roosevelt announced the AAA would function at least until the Supreme Court rules on processing taxes. He urged passage of AAA amendments and said he asked the Attorney General to explore collecting AAA processing taxes in Boston court jurisdiction pending the final decision.
President Roosevelt said the issue of Public Works funds in Louisiana is under question due to a new state law and federal supervision policy. He noted the Works Progress Administration will proceed in Louisiana despite concerns at a July 17 press conference.

In Amarillo on July 17 relief gardens in Potter County distributed several thousand pounds of spinach 6000 pounds of mustard greens and 5200 bunches of onions to needy families over the past two weeks. Squash carrots and more produce are planned and a relief cannery will can surplus.
Uvalde dealers report 665000 pounds of long wool sold at 25 to 27 cents per pound to Producers Wool and Mohair Co led by C B Wardlaw with about 150000 pounds in a sealed bid sale. Stokes Buys 615000 pounds while D Stokes Winston and Co took 613000, Tom Richey 17000, Max Robin 35000. Several bids rejected on 250000 pounds offered by Geo BE ONeill.
London reports influential sources indicate Britain may authorize legitimate arms shipments to Ethiopia. Emperor Haile Selassie reportedly sent Addis Ababa documents proving the empire's need, after prior delays by the British government.
Local agent L B Dunning said a higher railway traffic westbound from Del Rio requires nine crews. About 45 men are operating westward out of Del Rio this week. Shipments cover all types of commodities and are explained by the increased activity.
Seventeen persons were injured in a blast at the Wilson and Company packing plant in Oklahoma City. Three women were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The explosion, occurring in the cafeteria area, was believed caused by a leaking underground gas main.
Del Rio relatives attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary Miller a lifelong Uvalde resident who died Sunday in an El Paso hospital from injuries suffered July 9 in a crash near Silver City New Mexico The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in Uvalde with Mrs Laura Langford and nieces Mrs Ira Langford and Mrs Daisy Irvine among attendees Mrs Miller had visited Del Rio on numerous occasions.
