Rev H Conger Jones announces that the Brackettville Brackett parish house of St Andrew's Church has been paid in full. Built in 1930 at over 10000 dollars, the brick building includes a 125 seat chapel, Sunday school rooms, dining room and kitchen. Bishop Capers called it the best equipped in the West Texas diocese. St Andrew's Guild funded about half the construction and debt relief, with two thirds from three vestrymen. Fort Worth July 13 Attorney General James V. Allred led all candidates in the Fort Worth Press straw poll with 608 votes out of 1,741. Tom Hunter followed with 461 and C. C. McDonald had 243 as other contenders totaled 151 for Small, 126 for Hughes, 122 for Witt, and 30 for Russell.
Season passes at Moore Park pool drop from five dollars to two fifty for the rest of the season. Unmarried residents under twenty one in the home may use the pass. Daily swims cost ten cents for adults five cents for children under twelve and free for those under six. Custodian O J Dobkins notes the pool is a city hotspot during hot weather.
Police Commissioner H. Mike Averill announces a state wide ban on selling beer on general primary election day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. In Del Rio deputies will enforce the rule with county and state officers. Beer may be sold after 8 p.m. on election night.

Mrs. Ermine Harris, 30, once Fort Worth's most beautiful high school girl, and her cousin Patricia Kidd, 4, of Waxahachie, were shot to death today by Harris, the woman's former husband. Bandera’s original Bugscuffle Band with 25 players will perform a 20 minute set in Del Rio before the Chamber of Commerce while en route to the Hudspeth ranch on Devil’s River for a barbecue celebration Saturday. The group includes old time fiddlers and will perform familiar songs. Local police arrangements will ensure undisturbed play.
Norman Oklahoma authorities seek Neal Myers, missing University of Oklahoma pharmacy student, in connection with Marion Mills’s death. Police asked Galveston dock authorities to watch Gulf freighter docks after Myers abandoned his car in Houston. Reports say he left Howton for San Antonio and possibly headed toward Mexico.
Steve Murphy, 75, veteran newspaper man and founder of the Devil's River News, died at his Sonora home Thursday. A native of Canada living in Texas since 189%, he worked with brother Mike on the paper for 30 years and was well known in Del Rio. he retired about five to six years ago and never married.
Pecos July 13 The Reeves County tax collector received the largest single payment in some time a check for 10400 dollars from the West Texas Refining Company to settle taxes.
Avery Martin, 18, a ranch operator near Alice, is hospitalized with injuries after a Brahma bull attacked him during branding. He was working cattle when the animal turned aggressive.
