Trenton New Jersey July 10 Gov Harold G Hoffman filed a suit in state court seeking 100000 damages against radio commentator Boake Carter over alleged malicious libel caused by his recent critical comments about the governor. The case stems from Carter's remarks during the past weeks.
President Roosevelt pledged support to Western livestock leaders for a government managed grazing program on 142.9 million acres under the Taylor Grazing Act. He met with advisory board chairmen from 10 western land states representing 27 federal grazing districts and said he would seek an Interior Department report on expanding the program.

Tyler report says John W. Pope Jr., assistant attorney general, fell to his death from the seventh floor of a Tyler hotel. Authorities believe a burning cigarette ignited the bed, waking him and prompting the plunge as he slept with the cigarette in hand. His body struck a porch, breaking his neck. He was with his wife Patricia Pope, seven months married, traveling from Austin to attend a state case opening.
Twenty one absentee ballots were cast through Wednesday with County Clerk W A Hopkins. Seven votes were cast on the opening day Monday July 6. Three were cast on July 0 and seven were cast on July 6.
Postmaster General Farley said Washington today that postal receipts for the 1936 fiscal year would be near expenses and projected a deficit of about five to seven and a half million dollars considering subsidies. He noted the figures reflect a "pretty close" balance to revenues.
