SANTA MONICA July 3 A Texas cattleman Jimmy Henderson 32 of Alpine was taken into custody after a shooting at a beer parlor. Leroy Patton 50 was critically wounded. Henderson denied attacking despite claiming I emptied my gun into him after Patton and his wife left a room during drinking with Henderson and his wife Leona.
The Gulf Pacific highway association plans a July 26 to 28 meeting in Paris. Col. F. M. Witherspoon of Shreveport Louisiana announces the event. Several governors and state highway commissioners are expected to attend.

Rep. Marion Zioncheck arrived to a crowd of several hundred in Seattle. He hurried to a waiting car with six stout aides, likely to visit his ill mother Mrs Frances Zioncheck. his wife Ruby Zioncheck had boarded the train at Ellensburg the prior night.
An outbreak of Mohammedan rioting against Jews in Tunisia resulted in one native death. Troops were ordered to patrol Gafsa near Sousse after Mohammedans sacked Jewish stores following clashes with gendarmes. The incident deepens France's colonial difficulties.

The Pig Pen Crossing remains a low water bridge and the change is the only modification to the highway.
A Japanese protest surged after the British consular court found two British soldiers not implicated in the slaying of a Japanese soldier. An emergency meeting was called to discuss counter measures as demonstrators besieged the Japanese embassy.
Washington and Austin reports show the Comptroller of the Currency and the State Bank Commissioner issued calls for the condition of banks as of June 30. Local banks received both notices and are complying with the requests.
Geneva July 3 France pressed for a reinforced system of regional pacts under League supervision to guarantee peace by military force. Yvon Delbos urged rapid reform of the League to punish aggressors, as France, Russia, England and South Africa align to keep the League buoyant amid Europe’s tensions and Italy’s Ethiopia conquest.
