In Washington crime trends dominate talk as extradition issues linger while Donovan and NRA disputes unfold. Reports note 45 percent higher crime and 25 percent more murders than peers, with burglaries up 50 percent and robberies 20 percent, yet crimes against women fall below average.
Eleven applicants and three alternates from Val Verde County were selected for the Citizens Conservation Corp enlistment at Fort Clark in Brackettville. The eleven include Russell Patterson Tomas Rodriguez Isaia Ramirez David Rodriguez Manuel Jiminez Juan Arista Daniel Hernandez Macio Ojeda Gonzalo Moya Jesus Galvan and Gustavo Constancio. Alternates are Oscar Cardenas Arturo Salazar and Arturo Rodriguez.
E R Eiland reports steady gains in Texas farm sales by the Federal Land Bank of Houston. May sales totaled 26 farms, up from eight in May 1933, with five month totals in 1934 reaching 130 farms for 374817 dollars versus 80 farms for 258515 dollars in 1933.
Producers Wool and Mohair Company will offer 775000 pounds of free wool in a sealed bid sale here on July 11. C B Dutch Wardlaw, company president, announced the accumulation includes 525000 pounds of eight months wool and 250000 pounds of twelve months wool. The sale could clear the wool house as about 1500000 pounds were consigned to Boston and 100000 pounds recently sold at 23 1 2 to 24 cents per pound. The sale covers only short wool.
E. E. Pat Murphy San Angelo congressman candidate urged broadening the PWA to farm projects to re employ ranchmen and farmers. He called for fair treatment for small business unemployment insurance old age pensions improved living conditions just wages and a living right. He pledged direct contact with farmers in his district to align actions with their wishes during a campaign tour that included Brownwood Blanket Bangs Winters.
In Topeka Kansas the State Contest Board kept open until Friday the protests against Dr John R Brinkley being listed on the Republican gubernatorial primary ballot. In New York Dr Frederick G Howe denounced farm trusts nationwide calling for government action to shield farmers and consumers from exploitation.
The Chamber of Commerce Highway Committee approved plans for dedicating the division warehouse and division office building, with the Devil's River and Sycamore Creek bridges opening the event. The $24,000 Gibbs Street complex, built by Smith & Walker of Corpus Christi, was completed this week after construction since March, with offices moving from the First National Building on Wednesday. The Texas Highway Commission is invited to attend the dedication.

The comptroller of the currency issued a call for the condition of all national banks as of June 30. The FDIC issued a call for all non Fed affiliated state banks as of June 13. The Fed system also called for statements from state banks affiliated with it as of June 13.
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt toured Ford mines at Pond Creek in Pikesville Kentucky during a private vacation trip that began in Washington yesterday. The first lady passed through the town and inspected the mining area in this county.
Pi J P La Couture, formerly of New York Cotton Exchange, sold his seat last December and toured the West before settling in Menard. He bought a four section tract from Budge Moses, south of Menard, for 33280 dollars. La Couture was a member of the Wood Tops division of the exchange.
First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Del Rio will receive 15500 from government stock subscriptions within 10 days to be matched three to one by local deposits. Funds will back loans for new or repaired homes within 50 miles, with local appraisers W E Tinnin and Claude Lane evaluating properties before board approval.
In Denton on July 3 Jimmie Glasscock cafe operator at Justin was killed by Deputy Hugh Elliott during a Denton County raid. Elliott said Glasscock wounded him first and he fired in self defense. Boyd Wilkerson, Glasscock's associate, faced assault with intent to murder charges amid claims he menaced the deputy with a heavy weapon.
A man identified as one of two robbers who looted Morris County Bank of Naples of about $1,200 yesterday was arrested today. He was captured in a raid on his White Oak homes near Sulphur River, Daingerfield.
Clarence Darrow, chairing the American inquiry commission, urged reporters that Hitler is a dangerous man who should be destroyed as the German revolution evolves. He spoke unofficially after the morning session in New York.
State Sanitary Inspector B F Parks addressed Del Rio barbers at the Chamber of Commerce urging signing of the barber code and adherence to sanitary standards. He noted barbering has advanced with modern schools and sanitary laws and warned unsanitary shops risk spreading diseases, urging licensure and proper pricing to reach 100 percent licensed shops.

DALHART July 3 The Panhandle wind blows from various directions yet continues to move objects. H C Hudson reported finding a broad brimmed hat in his pasture and received letters from Folsom New Mexico 116 miles northwest and another from 50 miles southwest. More than a dozen inquiries followed showing Panhandle men may struggle to keep up with their hats.
Dr and Mrs John R Brinkley and Johnnie Boy will be away on a summer trip letting Del Rio enjoy the Brinkley estate fountains each evening from 9 to 10 o clock. If winds are high the sprays scatter and the fountains stay off, but on clear evenings the display proceeds as planned.
