Del Rio and surrounding area see mostly cloudy skies with limited clearing tonight and Tuesday. Yesterday’s high reached 96 degrees with a low near 76. this morning’s minimum was 72 as temperatures edge toward warmer conditions.
The forecast calls for generally fair to partly cloudy conditions tonight and Tuesday with mild temperatures and light winds across the area. Small chance of isolated showers is not expected to impact overall conditions.
Bodies of Jay Donaldson and Bertha Gordon were found shot to death beside the highway four miles east of here last night. A Lubbock man, companion of the slain couple, is held by Garza County sheriff's department today. A revolver was found between the bodies.
Capt. Luke Dowe and Capt. W. L. Barler, Del Rio port customs leaders, received voice threats Sunday night. A caller with an English accent warned they would receive “the same thing Henry got” and mentioned $400 paid across the river for Henry’s killing, linking to the customs officer Henry who died of wounds.
Dr John R Brinkley said the Brinkley Sanitarium will remain under same management through the summer with Dr A C Petermeyer Jol H Davis and W A Marshall in charge. The Brinkleys plan to travel to New York City and then to Nova Scotia for the season. no operations will occur until Brinkley returns.
Public Works Administrator Harold L. Ickes approved a four and a half million dollar loan to the Colorado River Company of San Antonio to finish the Hamilton dam and reservoir on the Colorado River about 90 miles above Austin Texas. The action was announced Saturday in Washington.
Dock Aldridge of Lamesa was found unconscious on a highway near here Friday and released from an Amarillo hospital. He said two highwaymen stopped his truck, robbed him of 19 dollars 75 cents, and then left him injured.

Hugh Davis 50 fatally shot his ex wife Sallie Carson 45 and her son Sam Carson 17 and her mother Julia Monroe 65 at Bachman's Dam fishing camp. He then killed himself with the same gun. Police say he was likely angered by her not visiting him as he wished yesterday.

San Saba July 2 Culberson Deal as congressional candidate in the 21st district told pecan growers in the District Courtroom he would aid efforts to organize a unit install warehouses and market their crop He urged recognizing added land value from pecan timber by the Federal Land Bank noting the crop as one of the five major Southwest crops He toured the county Friday and Saturday during a campaign in the 27 county district.
Ned Allen a 30 year old automobile salesman of Longview and Roy Heiman an aviation salesman from Longview and Dallas were killed when their monoplane crashed on takeoff at Center municipal airport. The crash trapped the men in flames for 30 minutes as onlookers and two women and a man suffered serious burns. The cause was listed as undetermined.
National election day in Villa Acuna passed without incident as saloons opened at 5 p.m. after a nationwide temperance order expired. Citizens voted for president and senate in a peaceful, orderly atmosphere.
San Angelo reports plans for a Texas wool and mohair growers association with 6000 to 10000 members from about 17000 to 18000 sheep and goat raisers in 50 counties. Jack Mansfield says the group would represent growers in Washington and Austin and coordinate with warehouses, merchants, and banks for industry gains. Directors would rotate every 12 months and control would remain with growers for their benefit.
The Farm Credit Administration said drought damage and farmer willingness decide sheep purchases in drought areas, not state allotments. No directors have been fixed yet. The government may pay per diem and expenses for a Salt Lake City conference for the appointed state representative, with goats also petitioned for inclusion. The price is expected at $2 for old ewes, ranch delivery.

The Schreiner Wool and Mohair Commission Company sold 1.2 million pounds of eight months wool to C. D. Stokes of Winslow & Company at 19 to 20 1-4 cents per pound, average 19 3-4, the largest single block sale this season in Texas. Shipment began Monday after the Kerrville announcement. Earlier the firm sold about 1 million pounds of 12 months wool at 23 1/2 to 26 cents, most at 25 1/2.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 5 p m for David Elmer Grosh 67 of Del Rio held at his West Second Street home. The Rev B D Kennedy officiated and interment followed in Masonic Cemetery with the local lodge in charge. Grosh died shortly before midnight Friday after a week of illness. He lived in Del Rio 38 years and was a locomotive engineer since age 24. Survivors include his widow Ella, three brothers and three sisters, with pallbearers drawn from railway men and Masonic Lodge. Out-of-town mourners included Mrs M C Peirce Tucson Ariz Mrs W F Hendricks San Antonio and S E Petersen Sanderson.
Ex mayor Marcial Martinez flees Villa Acuna for Piedras Negras after a temporary injunction blocks his arrest in the murder case of U S customs officer L A Henry. Rafael Dominguez, accused killer, is jailed in Piedras Negras. Martinez is sought for complicity.

Berlin July 2 Scores of Nazi Storm Troop subleaders were arrested nationwide in Chancellor Hitler s drive amid weekend violence and summaries. Estimates ranged from one hundred to several hundred as officials withheld figures. Arrests occurred in Storm Troop groups across Berlin Brandenburg Bavaria Silesia and Pomerania with no death list issued.
Berlin July 2 President Paul Von Hindenburg declared the Reichswehr responsible for the safety of Vice Chancellor Franz Von Papen and warned of a siege if Papen is harmed. Black Shirt guards were assigned to protect him after his bold criticism of Nazi policies.
Washington July 2 Governor William ST Myers of the Farm Credit Administration said only a very light minority of farmers have to go into bankruptcy to save their homes. He said the Frazier Lemke act with a six year mortgage moratorium fits the farm credit program and helps prevent creditors from forcing distressed debtors into foreclosure.
A fire at Rock Island Railway car shop in Dalhart last night destroyed 15 freight cars and a passenger coach. The loss is estimated at about 40 000 to 50 000 dollars.
