The widow of John RoKiser and four of her eight children testified in the murder trial of Alva Hill 23 fast near the city after a stabbing death of a 42 year old farmer. George Hill Alva's father is also charged in the case and held without bond.
Uvalde recollections recall two local depressions. William Stevenson, longtime resident, describes the 1880s hogs saved the day with hides at 80 cents each. In 1893 prices slumped. wool, cattle, groceries, labor wages all fell. laborers earned 50 cents a day, ranch hands 10 to 15 dollars per month, clerks 25 to 30 dollars.

WP H. T. Reilly aged 25 of Flint Texas was killed instantly when his car struck a parked pipe line truck near Fairfield Texas this morning Virgil Stritch field 26 of Kosse and Virgil Meek 17 of Flint sustained injuries in the crash authorities reported at the scene
Miss Aliie Rogers, longtime Del Rio area teacher, returned from McKinney to visit her sister Mrs. Will Greenrod. The 1880s era school in Val Verde County had five teachers and about 300 students in a brick building with eight grades.
Rev L. Millican of the Paisano Baptist Assembly recalls braving saloons and two gunmen in El Paso in 1887 to invite gamblers to a church meeting. He credits pastors with shaping frontier Texas and credits his救 escapes and miracles to faith.
In Huntsville Texas a drunken binge behind the prison blacksmith shop led to the death of Ernest Hamilton 23 Mingus convulsions and left Aubrey Charles Nocona and William Duncan blinded while Robert Stewart of Louisiana was seriously ill Warden Waide said the embalming fluid with high alcohol content was stolen from the prison morgue and consumed during a spree.
Verde Valley Golf Club pro Gray Madison says a novice beat him after Madison gave three lessons. The incident occurred in Ariz where Madison warned even skilled teachers can be outplayed by improving students.
A goat with five full legs and a stub sixth leg was owned by J A Thompson of Utopia in Uvalde County. Reportedly exhibited in Uvalde on Tuesday and observed in Del Rio on Wednesday. Spectators called the creature “sure enough goat.”
Dr J R Brinkley plans two political speeches in Kansas on the Fourth. He will depart from the municipal airport aboard his Travelaire cabin ship to Lynford and then El Dorado for the holiday campaign event. After takeoff, his daughters Maxine and Beryl Brinkley will begin a separate Texas‑Mexico border holiday trip.
One year after the first Sonora train arrival the community celebrates progress and growth. Herman Kreimer aged 30 drowned in the Guadalupe River at Victoria Texas despite rescue attempts by his brothers Herbert and William Kreimer. William swam to shore for a boat. Herbert held his brother but died before help arrived. Herbert nearly drowned while supporting the body.
Dallas July 1 John Mantley grain stabilization board director applauded the Farm Board agreement to limit stabilization wheat sales during the mow crop year to a accumulative maximum of 5,900,000 bushels monthly.
Captain Licht Townsend of the Texas Ranger camp posted a 250 dollar bond awaiting trial in August on charges of assaulting Phil Garoni. County officials said the warrant was issued after a beer parlor incident and Garoni reported a broken nose. Garoni alleged a Ranger struck him with the gun butt when he questioned wife’s house rental. Ranger Alfred Alice was named in an altercation as he reportedly slapped Garoni after an insult.
Del Rio conducts a second spring roundup of unvaccinated stray dogs with about a dozen moved to the city pound near the Southern Pacific roundhouse. Sanitary inspector Joe Bridge led the operation, aided by C. E. Clark until his dismissal. Police say unvaccinated dogs will be rounded up periodically, and over 100 strays have been killed to date.
A memorandum from President Herbert Hoover was presented to the French by Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Mellon. The note aimed to salvage negotiations over the war debt holiday plan during July in Paris.
