Jed C. Adams, member of the United States Board of Tax Appeals, died of pneumonia in Washington Tuesday night. A Dallas lawyer and Kaufman native, he aided the prosecution in the Judge James Cornell murder trial and defended in the German bond cases. Adams was active in Democratic politics, served as Kaufman County attorney and national committeeman, and was a delegate to the 1904 Democratic National Convention. He died after a notable career spanning law, military service, and public office. Funeral planned in Kaufman, Texas, likely Saturday.
In Albany Oregon on January 30 the saddle horse Bunch, aged 25, owned by John McKercher of Crawfordsville, serves as the top cowhand by nightly rounding up a dairy herd and guiding them to the barn, nipping misbehaving cows with his teeth.

Two alibi witnesses from a Bronx bakery testified at the Flemington New Jersey courthouse steps that they could not conclusively place Bruno Hauptmann in their shop the night of the Lindbergh kidnapping. Christian and Kate Frederickson were unsure if Hauptmann called for his wife an employee there and would not swear to it on the stand.

Joseph B. Eastman, federal coordinator of transportation, urged a vast plan to extend regulation to land sea and air transport. A recreated super agency from the Interstate Commerce Commission would oversee network carriers with 16 members in five units, removing all transportation from NRA control. The coordinator’s office would continue, filled by an ICC member appointed by the President.
