In Austin Texas the trial of John Brady for the murder of Lelina Highsmith continues as the defense rests. Mrs Brady was called to the stand again after court adjourned for the noon recess. The State seeks 27 more Travis County witnesses and hints at startling testimony if two missing witnesses are found.
Ruth Furr, elected Memphis most beautiful high school girl, is praised by her blind parents. Her mother, who is blind, cannot see Ruth's face, while her father also has limited sight. Ruth leads her mother to church each Sunday and cherishes her family's resilience.
A drunken man arrested after causing a disturbance at a Main Street hotel was jailed. He kicked window panes near his cell causing $5 in damages and faced a total fine and costs of $12.70. A companion avoided damages by not kicking and paid the same fine and costs. The judge noted the baker offender had the dough.
Bishop Charles P. Anderson, primate of the Episcopal Church in America, died in Chicago after a two week illness. The death was caused by a heart attack.

Giie Rose 58 a lifelong Bracketville resident died Tuesday afternoon. Interment followed Wednesday in the local Catholic Cemetery with Rev Father Peter Tonson presiding. Survived by a brother Ruben of San Antonio and numerous relatives.
Representative J W Ackerson of Nayaveta tells a House committee that daily newspapers should be barred from every Texas home citing court cases and Paris divorces as unsuitable for children. Ackerson once owned a bookstore.
Attorney General R L Bobbitt issued a 14 page ruling to the Senate federal relations committee stating the Democratic State executive committee lacks power to bar a candidate or voter for past political affiliations The opinion suggests the committee cannot require agreement on future deviations and implies Senator Tom Love cannot be barred as a gubernatorial candidate
Miss Hercilia De La Fuente 35 clerk in an abstract office died Thursday at a local sanitarium after a few days illness. She had visited Piedras Negras recently and was brought back for medical care. Funeral arrangements were not set. Survived by brothers Jose Luis Mike, parents Francisco and Mrs De La Fuente, and sister Aurora.
Funeral services for Mrs. J. L. Ward 41 will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Wilson 302 East Second Street. She died Wednesday afternoon in a El Paso hospital. She is survived by husband and three children Elizabeth 16 Bill 10 and Jack 6. Brothers B E Wilson Ernest Wilson Del Rio Homer Wilson Alpine. Sisters Miss Wilmot Wilson Miss Beatrice Wilson Mrs Beulah Daniel Del Rio and Mrs J H Cunningham Can Can. The body is due to arrive here at 11:20 p.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Helen Bates is jailed in Clarendon after failing to post a $5,000 bond for the slaying of H. M. Christianson. The examining trial was waived. Relatives of the victim are missing, and American Legion officials plan funeral services Saturday.
