An 18 year old man received a life term after pleading guilty to first degree murder in the Maying of Mrs Maude Martin of Coffeyville. State witness Mrs Sullivan is expected to testify in the trial of Paul Jones, who allegedly hired her to kill Mr Martin. Dr S A Brainard is linked to the case over alleged involvement.

The fire at Joe Parks home on Bodlock Street appeared started by an amateur arsonist. Firemen found a stall blaze in every room and a partly filled oil can in the yard. No insurance covered the furniture and the building was not owned by the Parks.

A 36 year old woman Avia Henderson was sentenced to 2 years in prison for the murder of her husband Claude J Henderson at a Pecos County oil camp on November 18 after a 15 hour jury deliberation. Defense counsel W J Oxford will file a motion for appeal. Henderson claimed temporary insanity. The couple had an uncontested divorce in August and he had remarried in November. Minnie Henderson, the dead man’s wife, was sleeping beside him the night of the shooting.
Story told by St Louis travelers Jay Bemis and A D Adams of a coyote they shot near Comstock. Bemis fired five times as the animal ran, then pursued it two miles before the coyote collapsed and died. They skinned the animal and kept the hide to show Louis friends, insisting the bullet passed through its heart.

Brinkley of Milford Kansas, says Brinkley sold KFKB to Farmers and Bankers Insurance Co of Wichita and will build another commercial station on the Mexican border.
