Funeral services for Isaac B. Stone 72 will be Tuesday at 10 a m from Doran Chapel with Rev L B Gilbert officiating. Stone Quemado lumber yard owner and father of Mrs Frank Randolph of Del Rio died in a local hospital Friday. He is survived by widow Alice Bolt Stone two sons W C Stone of Washington DC and C C Stone of Cuba a daughter Mrs Prank Randolph of Del Rio two brothers and four sisters. Stone born February 12 1863 was son of William Stone and had lived in Del Rio with his wife before moving to Quemado.
King George signs a document at Sandringham appointing a Council of State to handle most royal duties during his grave illness. The body includes Queen Mary and sons the Prince of Wales and the Dukes of York, Gloucester and Kent. Physicians report a restive night but no major change in condition. A possible crisis was anticipated tonight.
The Del Rio Fire Department responded to a blaze from a soot filled flue at the B. P. Harden residence on East Losella Street Saturday afternoon. Firefighters extinguished the flames with only slight chimney damage.
The Supreme Court adjourned for two weeks without deciding the constitutionality of the TVA after government requests. The government sought dismissal of Governor Talmadge of Georgia's suit against the Bankhead Act and a rehearing on processing taxes. It argued the United States is the real defendant and cannot be sued without consent.
Sam Hilb 61, flour and feed salesman and frequent Del Rio visitor, died Sunday in Mercedes. His home was in San Antonio. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Porter Loring Funeral Home in San Antonio, with the body to be sent to Chicago for interment.
The Senate this afternoon passed the bill to pay soldiers’ bonus in redeemable baby bonds after rejecting an amendment that would limit the payment to the present surrender value of service certificates.
John Whistler Jr of Sanderson was found guilty of failing to support his three children under 16. A Val Verde County jury deliberated an hour and sentenced him to three days in the county jail. The indictment dated November 5 1935 alleged the offense on October 1 1935. The three children live with their mother in Val Verde County. A motion for a new trial was filed and set for Monday afternoon.
Walton urges Del Rio Independent School District taxpayers to pay school taxes by January 31 to avoid penalties. With 11 days left, $36,082.42 remains unpaid from $51,577.30 collected. $15,494.88 had been received so far. Beginning February 1, a 10 percent penalty, 6 percent interest, and a $1 delinquent fee will be added to each unpaid account.
Dr. John R. Brinkley of Del Rio cites Rosicrucian AMORC predictions that gold will be phased out in 1936 in favor of a new value standard chosen by major nations. Jacinto Moncibyas pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana in District Court. The 66 year old man received a one year penitentiary sentence after the trial.
Possible Federal Communications Commission permission to broadcast the Jefferson Democrats Convention in Macon was noted in an application for time received by Dr. John R. Brinkley. He said he would let the Democrats buy time on XERA if Washington allows wires into Mexico, amid years of legislation aimed at blocking Mexican station programs originating in the United States.
Examinations for about 1460 pupils in the Del Rio Independent School District begin Monday after exemptions were announced by Supt R M Bankhead. Final exams start Tuesday morning for all but the first three primary classes. Exemptions in any subject require an average of 90 with a departmental 90.

James L. McCamey professor of Political Science at Bennington College will address Del Rio Independent School District teachers and patrons Monday evening in the High School Auditorium. Supt R M Bankhead invited Del Ricans to attend as part of a regular faculty meeting in lieu of the teachers institute. McCamey is an authority in progressive school education and is son in law of Judge and Mrs W P Boggess.
