A snowslide buried three coaches of the Southern Pacific Pacific Limited westbound near Donner Summit in the High Sierra. Five passengers were injured as tons of snow smashed through sheds and engulfed the rear of the train near Eder station 40 miles northwest of Colfax. An observation coach reportedly overturned and one man suffered a broken arm per the Southern Pacific Company.

Brown County's yearly salary bill for county officials and deputies totals 37097.37 dollars. The amounts were fixed by Commissioners' Court on Wednesday under a new state law effective January 1, replacing the old fee system. Salaries equal the total earned fees for 1935, the minimum allowed, and stay within the old maximum.

Washington January 16 The Senate moves to consider the baby bond bonus bill after McNary urged a one day delay in rules. San Angelo January 16 Jim Manies is released on a 1000 bond signed by W A Manies and W J Powell after arraignment before United States commissioner Jesse Couch on counterfeit charges. Manies was arrested and held for C S Brown deputy marshal of Abilene who served the warrant. Hobart Horton named as accessory was arrested four weeks ago with bond set at 1500 and released after T L Salvato and George Short signed as sureties.

Raymundo Maldonado was sentenced to 90 days in Val Verde County jail after a District Court jury found him guilty of aggravated assault. The case was tried Thursday morning.
