SOUTH BEND Ind Jan 10 three bombs Tuesday wrecked the Palace Restaurant and damaged a dozen stores and a theatre at the main intersection of the business district. Debris littered streets but no injuries were reported. Early estimates set damage at 75000. Police linked the cafe to a labor dispute over a non union orchestra.
Dr. John F. Condon, Hauptmann's key accuser, remains unshaken as cross examination ends. The state cites his claim that Hauptmann is the Lindbergh kidnapper who negotiated the ransom. Defense questions whether Condon spoke with others and if the “John” figure traded the money with Isador Fisch.

In Marfa on January 10, the widow of John A. Pool recalled the 66th wedding anniversary with dinner guests and stories of Frank and Jesse James who attended their marriage. She, 94, noted the James brothers were young and attractive, and a treasured photo shows them with her husband and self. The Pools lived in Carroll County Missouri and Coleman Texas before settling in Marfa after 1885.
A 40 year old steamer Lexington lies half sunk in the East River near Brooklyn Bridge after a collision with the freighter Jane Christen. The crash narrowly avoided disaster due to the crowded river traffic. The Lexington’s damaged hull and tangled masts loom over the water as harbor pilots and rescue crews respond.
The Bureau of Agricultural Economics reports a marked improvement in world wool markets with higher sales in Boston and firm prices in southern hemisphere markets. Domestic wool textile mills show expanded activity in October and mill consumption at its highest since early 1934, with November and early December prospects stable. The 1935 U.S. wool clip is expected to be the smallest in years due to drought and poor conditions. Russian carpet wool rose 3 percent over 1933 while 20 other countries collectively grew about 1 percent above 1933 but lagged 1932 by 3 percent.

A rat allegedly started a blaze at Sebastian Herrera’s home on Garza Street in San Felipe around 2 a.m. Thursday. Fire crews say the kitchen and adjoining structures of the adobe house suffered heavy damage, with an adjacent two story frame section also damaged. No insurance covered the building or contents.

Guinn Williams, president of the Texas Production Corporation of San Angelo, was elected president and manager of the Texas Wool and Mohair Company at a directors meeting. The Senate sharply debated an attempt to force the immediate ratification of the proposed child labor amendment to the Federal constitution, previously defeated three times by the Senate. The House completed its organization and cut one half from the Senate appropriation for salaries and other expenses.
President Roosevelt and congressional leaders agreed to provide four billion dollars in a lump sum for the new year relief program. Congress would detail how the regular annual Public Works Administration fund of 300 million dollars is to be spent.
