The Chinese government will request the League of Nations to enforce article 16 penalties on Japan and may break diplomatic relations. The foreign office proposes Kellogg pact signatories convene to address the Manchurian crisis.
Japanese troops occupy Wanchiaun two miles from the northern boundary of China proper completing their control of railways in South Manchuria. The advance marks a consolidation of Japanese position in the region.
Preparations underway to pull casing and dismantle the Phantom Oil Company test rig twelve miles north of Dryden. The well shut down a year ago and sold at sheriff sale to Bovaird Supply Company. Carl Cromwell, longtime drill foreman, died in a Sheffield Pennsylvania car crash five months ago. Bovaird estimates about 60 days to complete the dismantling using specialized Bovaird equipment.

County Tax Assessor Clarence Herreford conducts a farm census to aid tax assessment. Questions cover crops, livestock, home use meat, tenants, canning, and pecan trees. Fines range from 25 to 500 dollars for noncompliance or false reporting.
Duncan McIntosh a native of England and former French Foreign Legion member famed as Glens Falls mystery man has died. He moved here 30 years ago living in a small shack and kept to himself though his humble cabin housed costly books fine authors and prized antiques.
Yale University professors Clarence W. Mendell and Yandell Henderson testified before a Senate committee in favor of returning beer to curb youth drinking of hard liquors. Henderson argued prohibition of beer harms student life by pushing use of distilled spirits.
Jan. 8. Tra McKee, 32, Palo Pinto County farmer, was electrocuted for murdering W. R. Billingsley, Dawson County farmer, at Sparenburg in May 1930. McKee was followed to the chair by Alfred Jackson, a negro, who had been executed for slaying a San Antonio negress.
Funeral services were held for Mrs. C. D. Wyatt 81 who came to Bandera County with her husband in 1876. Survived by five children Preston Wyatt Dryden Ewell Wyatt Bandera Judith Baker Medina Irene Means San Antonio Lucy Baker Port Arthur. six great grandchildren and 25 grandchildren.
In Albany Oregon a Los Angeles salesman and Mrs. Lillian Hesseltine of Seattle remarried after their 30 year separation. Their first marriage was annulled by their parents when they were 18 and 15. Freed by spousal deaths they wed again, choosing Albany as the wedding site.
The 63rd District Court will begin jury trials Monday under Judge Joseph Jones. Eleven indictments were returned. one defendant pled guilty and received a one month suspended sentence. Six defendants remain in jail or out on bond as criminal matters lead the docket. The first petit juror group reports at 10:00 am, with a second group on January 18. thirty five men and thirty six veniremen are summoned.
Henry Porter of Evanston HL was thrown from his motorcycle onto the top of an automobile after a collision. The car struck his machine and escaped, leaving Porter with only a few bruises.
Paul Young, brother of Harry and Jennings Young, surrendered in Houston for questioning about the Springfield six officer killing and a death note signed with his name sent to J. P. Tomlinson. Police also sought him on related inquiries as the Springfield killers reportedly killed each other rather than be captured.
Two men robbed the Oklahoma State Bank in Tonkawa Oklahoma fleeing in a coupe with an undetermined sum. Police believe the same pair also held up a nearby bank across the street several weeks earlier.
A WPA grand jury in Big Spring returned acquittal for Fritzie Staples a 20 year old waitress charged with stealing 2900 dollars from businessman W R King at a liquor party King testified he did not want to prosecute after the money was returned Staples was arrested in Dallas after flying there in a chartered plane King said he gave her the money and urged her to have a good time
Clyde H. Marsh, 42, was sentenced in Lansing Michigan to life imprisonment as a fourth offender. He spoke jovially about not worrying about bread and butter for the rest of his life, remarking on the event as forgery charges were noted in court.
Three Kennedy brothers and a dozen supporters battled provincial troops near the Kennedy ranch in La Paz Entre Rios. Surrounded by air and ground forces, they killed seven policemen in defense, then fled into thick woods as a battle raged with fewer than 50 rebels resisting the Argentine state.

Walter Jenkins Murphy three, son of Mr and Mrs C L Murphy, lost three fingers of his left hand in an accidental discharge of a 110 gauge shotgun. The accident happened 28 miles northeast of town while the Murphys were visiting friends. The boy rested easily Friday morning.
