Funeral services for O. B. Franks 60 brother of Mrs. John M Doak of Del Rio were held Sunday afternoon in San Antonio. He died Friday in a San Antonio hospital after a long illness. He was reared in Pleasanton and in Southwest Texas and had lived in Maracaibo Venezuela Tampico Mexico San Antonio and Houston. He is survived by two sisters Mrs John M Doak of Del Rio and Mrs D Shields of El Paso. Relatives from Del Rio attended including Mrs Mitchel Waldrop and Mrs Waldrop of Del Rio plus Mr Franks nephews and local residents.
President Roosevelt issued an executive order establishing a million acre game and wildlife range at the Fort Peck flood control project in Montana. The action expands federal protection within the New Game Preserve program as part of conservation efforts.
Del Rio Independent School District pupils start Christmas holidays Wednesday and continue until January 4 while regular classes end early Tuesday. San Felipe Independent School District students will be in classes until Wednesday with holidays starting Wednesday afternoon. Sacred Heart Academy and Miss Long's Private School also schedule break dates ending January 4 with partial class days before the holiday.
J A White, 77, of Uvalde died Sunday evening at his home. He formerly ran the drug business in Del Rio through his son Nathan White and was well known locally. Funeral services were held Monday in Uvalde with interment Tuesday at Howe near Sherman. F H Doran of Del Rio, a longtime friend, accompanied the body. His widow and two children Nathan White and Mrs Sue Parks survive.
Residents of Del Rio may enter the residential outdoor lighting contest sponsored by the Garden Club and Chamber of Commerce. Entries will be accepted until 7 PM Monday evening, with six prizes available. Displays judged on artistry color harmony illumination and originality during the seven to ten PM period.

Mrs. Walter Grimmer suffered critical burns Sunday morning when her clothing ignited over a heater while holding her baby daughter. The infant escaped injury as Mrs. Grimmer rolled on the bed to extinguish the flames, with her hands arms and body severely burned. Both sets of grandparents and other relatives traveled to Del Rio to be with her.
Mrs Maude Moore 18 wife of James Moore of Fort Stockton died Monday morning in Del Rio at Williams Sanitarium after four days there seeking medical treatment. The body will be transported to Fort Stockton by Doran Funeral Home for burial Tuesday afternoon at 3 with services planned. surviving beside her husband is an infant son.
Leaders at two top Texas universities praised Del Rio High School graduates for their years of study. UT freshman average for Del Rio diplomas was 33, above many peers, and only nine other schools matched or exceeded that mark. No Del Rio graduate was sent back from Texas A and M College this year due to prep issues.
