A Fort Clark sergeant Thomas Roberts was given a two year suspended sentence after a District Court jury found him guilty of the death of E. R. Cofield in a head on collision on October 8, 1936. Roberts testified about his 27 years in the service and his World War I record as defense evidence.

Strikers Move to Oust Ship Union Chiefs Across Coast

The strategy committee of the seamen's Strike announced moves to remove officers of the Eastern and Gulf Sailors Association. Meetings in 14 cities endorsed vacant executive posts and named delegates for local affairs and a coastwide New York conference on December 14. 8000 sailors attended the meetings as officers George Cummings Percy Pryor and Gustave H.
