Killer held after two dead in Pawnee shootout

In Pawnee County Oklahoma, Jess Powell a 65 year old farmer known as an alleged killer was captured at Ralston after a gun battle that wounded Lewin Raba assistant county attorney and left two dead. Powell had been sought for the shooting of undersheriff E Hartwick and the wounding of an 18 year old boy Floyd Bell and another teen. Sheriff Alien Jones said Powell faces charges of murder.

Jail Man for Silence After Mystery Crash

A 37 year old man suffered injuries when he fell or was thrown from a moving submobile on North Main near Third Street at 1 AM Monday. He was hospitalized then jailed for silence as police probe if he protected comrades amid desertion rumors.

Wool tariff changes face Texas ranchmen group

Special Correspondent reports the Sheep and Goat Raisers Association of Texas opposing wool tariff rate changes under the Hawkey Smoothill clause. The executive committee seeks Washington representation during sessions and collaboration with the National Wool Growers Association and the National Wool Marketing Corporation. Knife Fight Leaves Barber Wounded in Street Clash

Farl Red Scudday received knife wounds after a Saturday night affray near Minn and Martin Streets. A. J. Ellett of San Angelo was fined for drunkenness. both men pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace. Scudday’s jaw required stitches and a chest wound was noted.

Two Escape Injury As Car Hits Post

A Ford coupe with Tom Green County number crashed into a telephone post at the eastern end of Lasella Street Sunday afternoon. Two youths were in the car and uninjured. the post was bent outward by about one third. The driver, described as drunk, slumped over the wheel until a wrecker arrived. the vehicle had been in Villa Acuna prior to the incident.
