Violence erupts at the border as two Mexican suspects are killed and two men captured after a gun battle with U S border patrols. Over 100 shots fired near Gordova Tyland as alleged rum runners claim orders to shoot.
Three hardboiled panhandlers arrested near the home of charity worker Mrs. M. Rose by Night Watchman Tom Turk and Chief of Police HL Bridger. They used objectionable language after being refused, then jailed in county custody. Fines of 1 dollar plus costs were imposed. unable to pay, they face brief jail time, with ongoing detainment on the highway. They were found on a freight platform near the tracks drinking canned heat.
Customs officers captured two aliens and seized 54 quarts of liquor after a Tuesday night patrol along the river. Julian Ovilita and Valentine Cimivan appeared before United States Commissioner D. Smith, posting $306 bond each after a preliminary liquor hearing.
