Funeral services for Mrs Rebecca Jane Wright mother of S T Wright of Pumpville and Del Rio were held Saturday at 10 in the Doran Chapel with Rev Wilbur Wheeler officiating. Interment followed in Westlawn Cemetery. she died Thursday night at her daughter’s home near Brackettville after six years of invalidism. She was born June 14 1451 in Antioch Georgia to George Washington and Martha Cooley Gill and married Samuel Thomas Wright September 12 1878. The couple moved to Texas in 1899 and lived in Ballinger Garden City Carta Valley and finally near Brackettville. Six children twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive. other children attended the Del Rio service.
Clinton B. Ellenberger, 61, third assistant postmaster general in charge of financial operations in the post office department, died in East Stroudsburg Pa after more than a year of illness. He had served in federal postal service for many years and had been based in Washington.
PWA housing experts estimate the United States requires at least 5.6 million new homes to replace the worst slums. They caution private enterprise shows little activity while population grows and marriage increases.

New York August 28 A J Hall English textile chemist develops a simple wool unshrinking method by dipping wool in a sulfury chloride solution in white spirit solvent. The treatment lasts an hour and can be reused, preserving wool, rayon, and cotton blends without roughness or dye damage.
The body found in a barrel beside the East River is identified as Mrs Essie Gordon widow of Max Gordon a narcotics peddler killed in an El Paso auto crash on July 31. Medical examiner Dr Werene says she was stabbed nine times with an ice pick.
The Del Rio region expects generally fair conditions tonight and Sunday. Yesterday’s high reached 99 degrees with a low of 75. This morning’s low was 78 degrees.
A museum experiment released 100 corked bottles on July 26 1936 off Newfoundland to study currents and speeds. E Thomas Gilliard and Samuel Knox George reported bottles drifted 1800 miles to the west coast of Ireland with landings in England Spain Ireland and Cornwall. The bottles carried cards for finders with positions and dates and noted the Gulf Stream’s eastward drift.
Federal mediators took up a wage dispute threat involving 350000 railroad workers after 86 railroads rejected a 20 percent demand by the Big Five brotherhoods. The mediation offer defers a nationwide walkout for 30 days as hearings begin under Dr William Ms Leiserson. Brotherhoods suspend action while negotiations continue.
Karl Crowley of the post office department ruled the proposed cooperation agreement between United Airlines Transport Corporation and Western Airways Express Corporation illegal and monopolistic. The plan would let the two firms operate a through service from New York and points east of Salt Lake City to points west, ending in Los Angeles.
In Tulsa Oklahoma a boy aged 11 years eight months and 16 days visited the vital statistics bureau, paid 50 cents, and demanded his birth certificate claiming he is big for his age. He said he wants proof to be allowed to buy child tickets for movies and to avoid adult fares.
Governor Allred warned Austin lawmakers that the Legislature must face the facts and figures in a forthcoming special session and vote for producing added revenue. He has not yet decided which sources to recommend and opposed a general sales tax. no date for convening was set.
Stokes Sharp, about 15, was fatally injured in an automobile wreck 15 miles east of Alpine early Thursday. He was en route with his mother Mrs Fount Sharp and nephew Jackie Sharp to Sonora for a visit, rushed to an Alpine hospital, underwent surgery, and died. He was uncle to Bus and Marion Stokes of Sonora and formerly resided in Sanderson. His mother suffered bruises. Jackie Sharp was uninjured.
District Court opened in Del Rio to select a jury panel for the special term scheduled for September 18. Court members included Judge McNutt News War A.W. and Mitchel Waldre.
In Baltimore three boys uncovered $20000 in gold coins under an empty house cellar. One boy died at 18 before a court could let him claim his share. The others, Henry Grob and Theodore Jones, waited on a court order until adulthood. Henry held a $16 weekly packing-house job.
