George Henry Dern 64 former Utah governor and long time mining and business leader died in Washington from heart disease and complications after influenza. He rose from bookkeeper to prominent industrialist and served as secretary of war from 1933 to 1937 under Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Edgar Lehey nine year old nephew of Mr and Mrs Dan Lehey disappeared while wading in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. He sank at about 9 30 in the morning and was found Wednesday evening by two boys on the riverbank. The body was sent to Corpus Christi for burial Friday.

Funeral services for Miguel San Miguel 68 a Pioneer of Maverick County were held Thursday at 10 am from his brother Trinidad San Miguel home in Eagle Pass. Burial followed in Catholic Cemetery. He was killed Tuesday night when struck by a truck driven by Ruben Rivas 18 who is detained in investigations with no charge filed. He was born January 10 1868 and educated in St Marys San Antonio. He served as mounted customs inspector and later ran a mercantile business retired years ago. District Attorney Julian LaCrosse and Capt Luke Down attended.
