Mineral Wells hosts the second annual Women's Invitation Tournament at the Mineral Wells Golf and Country Club from August 27 to 31. Invitations have been accepted by a roster of guests from Dallas Fort Worth San Antonio Terrell Lubbock Electra Breckenridge and other Texas communities.

A man identified as Orville Byson of Little Rock, 20, was killed instantly when crushed beneath the wheels of a freight train in Texarkana. Two letters addressed to Byson were found among his personal effects.
A Harlingen man M. P. Gregory was killed late Saturday when his car left the Falfurrias highway 17 miles south of Harlingen at a curve.
Attorney General William McCraw ruled that the Dean law imposing penalties for liquor law violations will be in effect in all counties until the state canvassing board completes its work. Dry counties remain dry after the canvass while prohibition is repealed, and violators face Dean law penalties until the Legislature acts. After canvass, local option wet counties will become legally wet.

The move follows congestion in the main warehouse, with equipment already received and the smithy slated to relocate from First Street once the new buildings are ready.
Patrol Inspector George H. Peters left Sunday for Camp Perry Ohio to compete in the national rifle and pistol shoot beginning September 1. He was the only marksman from the border patrol team chosen from this district and Mrs Peters accompanied him on the trip. They will return in the latter part of September.

A drunken knife fight at a repeal dance in San Felipe left one man with a 12 inch chest wound and four stitches while another was fined 37.50 in City Court. Olney report states Herbert F Caraway aged 24 died today after being shot in the chest by a store watchman at Loving. The watchman says Caraway tried to force entry to the store despite being protested.
