Secretary Ickes announced a national allowable crude oil production limit for September of 2,341,700 barrels. The figure shows a drop of 107,600 barrels from August with Texas reduced by 32,900 barrels to a daily average of 968,400.
The Del Rio Evening News will not publish Saturday afternoon. A special edition with election returns will hit the streets Saturday night around 10 o'clock, followed by a complete edition Sunday morning for subscribers. Regular delivery will handle Sunday’s morning issue.
Funeral services for Mrs Virginia Williams 49 hospital owner and charity worker were conducted in San Felipe Presbyterian Church where she helped found the mission. Final rites followed at Doran Funeral Home with interment in Westlawn Cemetery. Surviving daughters include Alice Williams and Louise Jones with two grandchildren.
Ed Perchmouth Stanton and Andrew Nelson, who escaped Lubbock jail June 24, were captured near Therma New Mexico by Sheriff G R Fletcher of Cofax County. Stanton, awaiting execution for the murder of the Swisher County sheriff, and Nelson serving a robbery sentence, surrendered without a struggle after a brief fight en route to jail.
Lon A. Smith, chairman of the Texas Railroad Commission, urges re election for a second full term. He contends the prosperity of South Texas depends on orderly marketing and production of oil and asserts the commission has regulated the industry to conserve resources and keep it healthy. He defends drastic actions to throttle hot oil and aims to curb proration to serve the state’s economic welfare.
William Mce Craw, candidate for attorney general, predicts a substantial Texas runoff majority after a 5000 mile tour. He claims the voters favor his policies over his opponent and expects a lead near 30000 votes in the first primary.
L A Turner contractor announces start Monday on two San Felipe Creek bridges north of the city pump house. Bridges replace grade crossing hazards after Highway No 3 re routing to Devil's River Road. West fork bridge will have seven deck girder spans and east fork five spans. Contract awarded last July for about 35000 dollars. Turner also built Nueces bridges at Uvalde and Sycamore Creek bridges.
Radio listeners in Mexico City heard hungry performers of Station XEAL on the third day of their hunger strike. The foodless crooners murmured to the microphone between songs as the announcer also complained of hunger and lack of payment for two months, while criticizing the Ericsson Telephone Company.
Twenty five cattlemen from the West of the Pecos area met with United States Senator Tom Connally at Fort Davis to urge continued federal credit support for the cattle industry. They cited drought and the liquidation of the RACC in San Angelo as reasons loans through the Production Credit Corporation are needed to survive and repay. Connally pledged that federal aid would continue if farmers earnestly cooperate.
Fifteen men were given work Thursday through the Re-Employment Agency. They reported to Brown & Root, road contractors for the re-routing of Highway No. 3, and to the Acme Gravel Company supplying gravel to the road builders. The gravel firm will also furnish material for L. A. Turner who holds the contract for two concrete bridges over the east and west forks of the San Felipe in the highway re-routing project.
Abernathy begins preparations to assist Plainview in entertaining the West Texas Chamber of Commerce convention in 1935. Hale County cheese from Abernathy stored for ripening nine months. F. W. Struve and Ben F. Struve owners say American cheese should ripen at least three months.
Burglars looted three stores at Leander, fifteen miles northeast of Georgetown, stealing an undetermined amount of money and merchandise overnight.
County relief administrator F. S. Block attended a conference in Fort Stockton on case relief work. He was joined by Luther Milam, certifying officer of Val Verde County, with representatives from 25 counties including District No. 5 in attendance. The meeting focused on budgetary relief case work.

C. Ben Ross seeks a third term as governor and leads the Democratic banner in November, aiming to bolster his bid against Senator Borah in 1936. Ross defeated two rivals in the primary. He faces Frank Stephan of Twin Falls, former state attorney general, who topped his two Republican rivals in the primary.
Ninety six in person absentee ballots were cast Thursday under County Clerk W A Hopkins for Saturdays primary run off. Mail voting may continue today. In person voting ended Wednesday and the figure signals heightened interest in the election. A previous primary saw 300 absentee ballots on July 28 amid about 2500 total votes in the county. Ballot boxes were prepared for Saturday use and will be collected today or Friday. Absentees before the first primary two years ago totaled 400.
Wool prices on the market opening from Brisbane rose, with Bradford 645 warp top to 28 pence and other prices up slightly from the last London auction. Prices cover 60-708, 57-55 to 56 combing, and 64-708, 67 and 55 to 56 cents. Prices are estimated as landed in bond in Boston.

Two high ranking Cuban army officers Major Angel Echevarri and Captain Augustin Brice were sentenced to death by court martial at Camp Columbia near Havana for participating in the revolutionary plot against army commander in chief Colonel Batista. Palace attaches said President Mendieta was unlikely to approve the executions.

Jewell for comptroller, William Plampin for state treasurer, Bertha Blatt for superintendent, Oliver Williams for commissioner of agriculture, John M. Killough for general land office, J. W. Hembree for railroad commissioner, Guy L Smith for associate justice, and Thomas B. Burns for judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals. The party plans a vigorous statewide campaign.
Washington August 28 Administration officials handling NRA reorganization acknowledged differences of opinion on making the emergency recovery machine a permanent outfit but expected an early settlement. They denied a serious rift between Hugh Johnson and advisers including Donald Richberg and Secretary Perkins, as reported. Johnson spoke at Bethany Beach Delaware denying any split with Richberg and Perkins.
J. E. Fuquay assistant manager of the Del Rio office attended a Re-Employment Service conference in San Antonio with about 25 district staff members. The meeting focused on boosting efficiency in serving the public.
Vivian Pinkston, defendant aged 26, was moved from Brackettville to Del Rio for trial on October 1 for the 1932 Standart murder of Joseph Smith. A Kinney County jury convicted him in 1933. the Court of Criminal Appeals reversed and remanded. Testimony included a 12 year old witness noting a timber strike. no knife was found.
McALESTER Aug 23 The special strike committee led by Francis J Gorman reiterates New York convention instructions to call a walkout by September 1 and to follow them to the letter The committee shows little interest in the industrial relations board plan and demands concrete concessions from authorized negotiators.
Ferris M. Wakeley of San Antonio, director of the Sheldonian Institute of human engineering, spoke on Human Engineering at the Roswell Hotel Thursday noon. A highway beautification committee was formed with E. C. Wellborn Lee O Bryant and Hilary Doran named to the panel.
