In Akron Ohio on August 21 a sit down strike by residents at the Summit County Home for the Aged over tobacco rations ended when a pancake breakfast persuaded Supt. C A Weygandt to restore 50 percent tobacco allowances. Chef Paul Graham noted the meal influenced the residents toward acceptance of pancakes.
L. H. Phillips attorney for Vivian Denton announced the $500,000 slander lawsuit against Aimee Semple McPherson has been settled out of court.

President Roosevelt invites Gov Alf Landon and other governors to a drought conference in Des Moines Iowa on September 1. In Omaha Governor Lindon says he will accept, continuing the series of drought meetings.
J. D. Thompson manager of the Piggly Wiggly store was taken to San Antonio Friday morning for medical treatment after three weeks of illness. He was admitted to a hospital there and accompanied by his wife and by Mr and Mrs M B Martin.
Big Spring August 21 work on the local post office is postponed temporarily while plans are altered to provide basement office space. Instead of solid basement walls, window spaces will be installed.

Detroit August 21 Virgil F Effinger national head of the Black Legion was indicted with 21 others by the state fraud jury on charges of criminal syndicalism. At the same session Circuit Judge Joseph A Moynihan sentenced Frederick A Gulley and Thomas A Cox Levion members to three to five years for falsely imprisoning Robert Penland a steel worker.
In Huntsville on August 21, Weeks of Henderson was shot dead by prison guards while fleeing from the Retriev prison farm. His son, Jones of Hillsboro, was captured after disregarding commands to halt. Jones escaped into river bottom brush, with authorities continuing pursuit.
More than 700 pounds of tuna fish will arrive in Del Rio by express at 7 30. The large fish was caught recently by Dr John K R Brinkley off the coast of Liverpool Nova Scotia and is packed in ice for shipment to Del Rio.
Mr and Mrs Jas Netts will travel by way of Montgomery Atlanta Lynchburg Washington to Annapolis to meet son George Neth midshipman returning from a cruise abroad He previously sailed on the Oklahoma and later transferred to Wyoming and Arkansas The party will visit Port Clinton Ohio and Del Rio before George resumes duties at Annapolis.
