Miss Lucille Love, elected to teach public school music in Del Rio ISD, resigns after five years to accept a third grade position at Alamo Heights School in San Antonio. Superintendent R. M. Bank says a capable replacement will fill her music role at Del Rio.
Judge James Cornell, who recently suffered a stroke, is improving in Brackettville after hospital care in San Antonio. He can walk and read but remains unable to speak, according to friends who visited Thursday.
Gregory Zinovieff and 15 co defendants confessed to a conspiracy to overthrow the Soviet government and to assassinate Joseph Stalin. The trial in Moscow heard that the group sought external aid and planned terror to seize power as guards watched in a formal court setting.
Two bandits armed with sawed off shotguns robbed a package store six miles west of here, taking 50 cases of whiskey valued at 1250 dollars. O D Stevens, linked to the 1933 Texas Pacific mail robbery and the Handley slayings, secretly moved from Alcatraz to Tarrant County jail and awaits trial on September 14 for murder.

Paleontologist Mrs. C. Stuart Johnston of the Panhandle Plains Historical Society unearthed a nearly complete prehistoric horse fossil on Rock Creek near Silverton. The specimen, dated by Johnston to about 2,500 years ago, was found in a Pleistocene deposit at Cross McDaniel ranch Tule Canyon head.
Forty two absentee ballots were cast for the run off primary Saturday, with balloting completed Wednesday. County Clerk W A Hopkins reports the records.
Brooklyn man John McCarthy, 34, died when his car left the road in Columbia Falls Maine on August 29. He was identified by police and the incident is being investigated.
Two children died and eleven others were injured when a car driven by Luis Hummel of Davenport Iowa jumped a curb and struck pedestrians in Patterson New Jersey. Three people were reported critically hurt.
Mrs. Cathryn Wayman resigns from the Del Rio Independent School District school board. The resignation, accepted while she is in Florida, ends her unexpired two year term starting April 1956. She has served one year and been secretary of the board. a successor will be appointed.
H Conger Jones, recently appointed county surveyor of Val Verde County, has earned a lifetime certificate from the Board of Examiners of Land Surveyors in Austin. His term runs to January 1, 1937, with his name on the November ballot for a two year term.
Supt. Gilbert Cerda announces San Felipe Schools will open September 8. Plans include a teacher institute September 4. One new teacher, Miss Colilde Rangel, joins the faculty after graduating in 1932 and earning a degree from Salt Ross in May.
George S Kaufman exits his New York apartment after four days of self discipline to resume public contact following exposure in Mary Astor diary and testimony. He said he has not kept a diary.
A fire in Vancouver today destroyed three shipyards and adjacent buildings, with damage estimated over 1 million dollars. Fire Chief Archibald Diarmid said the blaze began in a machine shop and spread rapidly through the area.
An 11yearold African American boy said to be bitten by a mad dog 10 days earlier barked whined and snapped at staff and bystanders at a Dallas hospital. He was placed in solitary confinement at the county jail under strict medical supervision.
Fort Worth on August 20 Daniel Rubio aged 25 a tuberculosis sanatorium patient fell from the 20th floor of the Port Worth National Bank Building and died.

Waco police say grocer Pried man was charged with assault with intent to murder for shooting Policeman Jim Baskin in a taxicab during a fare dispute. Baskin remained in critical condition after the attempt to settle the argument.

Edinburg reports Francisco Franco, leader of Spain's rebel forces, was employed during World War I by Judge J. F. Cari and Carl, then secretary and GM of the Texas state council of defense.
