Grain elevator blast kills three in Baltimore

A massive explosion tore through a 12 story grain elevator in Baltimore causing a wall to collapse and fire to rage. Two hundred others were injured as debris and shrapnel showered the harbor area. One worker was blown from a upper window and fell about 100 feet as rescuers searched for a missing body. Cause of the blast remains unclear as authorities investigate possible sabotage or accident.

A fire at the Del Rio Tailor Shop caused damage to a sewing machine and clothing around 5 30 in the afternoon. Rafael Navarro the proprietor reported chemicals used in the blaze and praised prompt fire department work that likely saved the building. He returned to find firefighters on scene and the shop damaged.

French Funeral Rites Wednesday For Palmer French

Palmer French 30 of Marathon grandson of J. W. Newton of Del Rio will be buried here at 4 PM Wednesday with services at his uncle George Newtons residence Dee Newton another uncle also survives He died Tuesday morning in a San Antonio hospital and is survived by his widow.

General Revision of Cotton Rates Ordered by I C C

The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered a general revision of cotton rates to take effect January 10. Texas rates are reduced for shorter hauls and increased for longer hauls, with a 71 cent rate at 210 miles to ports where the 8 cent blanket rate begins. West Texas points are affected.
