Notice is served on property owners by sanitary inspector M Wilkinson to enforce the city weeds and trash ordinance. The City Commission discussed the matter and instructed surveys citywide, with prosecutions possible for noncompliance including failure to cut weeds or remove trash on vacant or occupied lots.
Kansas City dispatch reports Dr. Carey a bootlegging druggist, tied to three drugstore arson deaths and three fireman fatalities, shot himself in a downtown hotel room as a grand jury indicted him for three murders connected to the blaze.
Del Rio scouts at Camp Fawcett on the Nueces River near Del Rio are due back today after ten days of camping with over 200 scouts participating. E K Fawcett, Del Rio Chamber of Commerce president, helped found the camp and attended much of the tenure. Rev. Nixon and Rev. Stallknecht accompanied the group, with Stallknecht staying for the full period. A few photos from the departure are featured in the Story of Del Rio at the Process theatre.
A report from January 1 to August 15 shows the Del Rio volunteer fire department answered 70 calls with no loss on 21 and firefighting methods used at 49 crimes. Total fire loss reached 9296 dollars 25 cents, averaging 1389 dollars 72 cents per fire. Despite having only three paid firefighters and inadequate equipment the department helped reduce insurance rates from 62 to 35 cents.

Encarnacion Hinojosa faced an examining trial before Justice of the Peace Charley Miller and was released on a 150 dollar bond as the case heads to the September grand jury. Washington reports the treasury net balance on August 14 at 194,194,000 dollars with customs receipts for the month to that date totaling 23,994,124 dollars.
Alpine reports the Witte Memorial Museum of San Antonio will lead a fall expedition to the Big Bend area. Director Mrs Millen Schultz Quillin and vice president Col N L Crimmins retiree will supervise the project focusing on anthropology archaeology pictographs and petroglyphs. Duplicate specimens will be shared with the West Texas Historians and Scientific Society.
Residents who work across the border may be asked but not forced to reside in Mexico. The Mexican government will not enforce the order, only request that workers live in the Republic while employed on the Mexican side. The information comes through Augustus McCloskey to Porter Waal of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, with ties to Del Rio and other border towns.
Secretary Wren of the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce reports daily progress as directors along Highway No 90 anticipate a big turnout for the Alpine meeting August 30. The gathering will form the association’s second session with President Hal A Mainizen presiding. A publicity plan and anti publicity committee will be set up to promote the kidney feature along the route from San Antonio to Paola now U S Highway No 90. Helen will have representatives at the meeting.
Relatives seek Mrs. M F Mitchell formerly of Del Rio now in San Angelo. She is seriously ill at her daughter Ollie McGlasson's home 29 West 22nd Street. Efforts to locate her son, reportedly in West Texas oil fields, continue.
Del Rio plans a new home movie titled Panorama of Del Rio featuring a city panorama and scenes of the volunteer fire department, churches, dedication services, the old town skyline, and local landmarks. The project includes local actors Sue Cross Mildred Walker and Orville Finegan plus Charlive Gross Nayler Fereaman and Dee Newton in Juarez Theatre filming set for next week.
Miss Blanche Case of Chicopee Falls Mass thanks Del Rio community the American Legion and Auxiliary for their sympathetic care after her brother Roy A Case was killed in an August auto crash near Del Rio. She received photos from the funeral home. Woodrow W Hicks, who gave Case a lift, is under investigation in Corpus Christi for alleged car theft.
B J McDowell of Del Rio led North American Accident Insurance Company in July with the highest nationwide sales. He topped the group for the month and earned praise from home office officials for a standout performance during vacation season.

Oscar Olsen a 32 year old deck worker denied murdering Dorothy Aune and was sent to the psychopathic ward for a sanity hearing. He had tied to drown himself in a stagnant pool and also confessed to a separate killing this morning which was found untrue.
