Train strikes truck carrying rally party near Louisville
A fast freight train hit a large truck carrying twenty two men and boys returning from a political rally near Louisville Quebec. Twenty two were killed and twelve seriously injured. Four escaped. The truck passed two cars at the grade crossing and drove into the locomotive.

In Elizabeth New Jersey an old artillery shell kept as a souvenir exploded injuring a woman and a 9 year old boy. The shell, a two inch one pound shrapnel cap, was gifted to Albert De Paola by a soldier in California and placed on the mantle.
