An Eastern Air Lines 14 passenger flight en route Chicago to Miami crashed after takeoff in Daytona Beach Florida. Miss Lula Champion appointed health nurse for Val Verde County after Miss Gayle Isensee resigns effective August 15. William Leslie Edison, 58, son of the inventor Thomas A. Edison, died in Wilmington at his Westover home after a six week illness. He held patents on foundational radio principles.
Val Verde County commissioners redraw Precinct 10, separating San Felipe into three segments. The change aims to equalize voters as some areas show high turnout. new San Felipe precinct will have about 210 voters, far below the 350 cap. Socialist worker Petar Brannin asked the Senate civil liberties committee to probe last night’s labor disturbances in Dallas. Herbert Harris of New Haven Mo was tarred and feathered during a labor film showing, and George Baer, Hatmakers union vice president, was allegedly kidnapped and beaten. President Roosevelt signed a 132,757,000 interior department supply bill funding reclamation and education, criticizing a 10 million rise in the vocational fund as pushed by a single source.
Aug 10 reports say four armed men robbed the San Antonio Public Service Company of 1700 dollars. Texas Rangers and two highway patrolmen rushed to San Antonio to aid the search for ten suspects. Warnings were issued across Southwest Texas as authorities tracked a car toward Johnson City.
