Mrs Elizabeth A Borroum 79 widow of B A Borroum and Del Rio pioneer died Saturday in Fagie Pass at her son in law and daughter Dr and Mrs Lea Hume home. Funeral services were held Monday at 9 AM from the family residence with Episcopal rector Rev MH Conger Jones officiating. Interment was in Masonic Cemetery. She came to Del Rio in 1880 and helped shape local culture and hospitality. Surviving are four daughters 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers included Dr Evan Hume Robert Shaver Benjamin Shaver and others.
The business advisory council proposes an ever normal relief fund for unemployment. They recommend depositing 500 million to 1 billion dollars annually into a treasury account for public works during recessions. The plan mirrors an ever normal granary concept to store surpluses for hard times.
John Phillips a Fort Clark soldier and Miss Dorothy Price of Del Rio were injured Sunday night when a motorcycle collided with a sedan on East Gibbs Street near State Highway 3. Phillips suffered head and face wounds and a deep shoulder cut. Price had a thigh wound. Both were treated at Williams Sanitarium and Phillips later sent to Fort Clark hospital. the car occupants were uninjured.
W. F. Jourdan, county superintendent of public instruction, announced that all parents in Val Verde County must file transfers for their children to move to another school district by Tuesday.
Funeral services are held today for Dr Killis Campbell 65 longtime University of Texas professor and Poe authority who died after a long illness His daughter Mrs Kenneth McConchie taught English at Del Rio High School for years and has twins of her own.
The Senate agriculture committee voted unanimously to report the general farm bill within a week after convening at the next session of Congress. The action occurred in Washington on August 9.

Texas adds over 11 million pounds to its wool haul, lifting state production to 75.5 million. Aug 9 Peiping Shanghai dispatch reports Japanese forces paraded into Peiping with 3000 soldiers led by Major General T Kawabe. Leaflets promised protection and denounced Chinese rulers as Japanese planes bombed the area. Chinese and Japanese casualties were reported following clashes near Shanghai.
Republican Leader Snell of New York released a letter showing Attorney General Cummings said the Justice Department is probing the legality of the Democratic National Committee sale of a 1936 yearbook autographed by President Roosevelt.
