In Dallas and Austin reports from May 5, Ross Sterling says he will not bolt the Democratic party if Ma Peterson is nominated in the run-off. He comments after Tom Loves claims he cannot back Ferguson, insisting he remains committed to his ticket.
Sterling schedule outlines a West Texas swing with eight campaign stops and multiple speeches daily. Governor Moody will speak in support of Sterling in Waco Waxahachie Cooper Wichita Falls Childress Amarillo Lubbock Big Spring and Sweetwater as crowds gather across the state.

Waid's appointment was approved by the State prison board and Lee Simmons, general manager of the State prison system, announced after a full day session.
A Del Rio letter from Fire Insurance Commissioner J. W. DeWeese details three years of Good Fire Record Credits. Since 1928 Del Rio savings total about 38,650 on premiums, with 15 percent credits in 1928 1929 and 1930 reducing costs for residents.
Four year old Paul Robertson nearly drowned after falling from a diving platform at the Baptist Encampment in Christoval. A 14 year old girl, LaVerte Schultz of Colorado, dove in and rescued him. Neither sustained injuries.
Washington reports a sharp drop in Mexican immigration in early 1930 with 3,764 entrants in six months, down 87.1 percent from the past five fiscal year average of 56,747. The State Department cites strict enforcement as the cause.
In Pecos County a long running case, Permian Oil Company versus 49 defendants, ended as Judge Price granted an instructed verdict for the defendants. The Monaghan dragline No. 7 finished work on the north main canal section near Pinto Creek and began digging toward the syphon outlet. No. 3 moved about 112000 cubic yards along a mile and a half. No. 16 handled around 130000 cubic yards. July totals exceed 340000 cubic yards, with concrete pours over 800 cubic yards at Pinto Syphon and completion targeted by September 1.
Houston dispatch reports park keeper Hans Nagel, a special officer, was shot in the leg by A. B. Powell after Nagel mistook Powell’s son Ralph for a thief at the Powell filling station. The elder Powell said he believed Nagel was a burglar.
Stamford Connecticut August 5 explosion and fire at Richards and Company leather goods plant killed three men and seriously wounded another.

Scattered rains cooled the Fort Worth region easing a long heat and drought. A hard shower lasted about an hour bringing two inches in parts of the territory and benefiting crops. Tyler Kilgore Beckville Marshall also reported heavy rains while Strawn saw two inches ending a dry spell.
Witnesses in the swindling case against Ben E. New and E. W. Lasater of Dallas were dismissed from attendance at district court in Rocksprings. The case, which had been scheduled to go to trial, was continued. The men were indicted in connection with the sale of German bonds in Edwards County.
Sheep receipts reached 3500 with lambs trading 15 to 25 cents higher and most sheep firm. Cattle receipts totaled 7000 with 1255 calf and cattle holdovers. Fat yearlings opened steady while slaughter steers moved slowly and vealers and calves stayed strong.
Kaw Indian Fred Monroe of Pawhuska Oklahoma is charged with murder for running down his Kaw brother with a car and placing the body on railroad tracks where a tram mangled it. Two other Kaw men Rd Peppar and Joe Merce are held for investigation. The body was found by railroad personnel.
County Clerk W A Hopkins announced the absentee voting period for the run-off primary. Voting runs from Monday through August 13 for voters out of Val Verde County, with additional absentee applications allowed August 13 to 19 for those leaving before August 23. Voters focus on state offices only, with other offices yet to be decided in Democratic and Republican primaries.
Dunning, Clifford King and A. B. Johnson led elimination matches at 8 Grove Golf course Tuesday. Dunning shot 85, Johnson 87, in a miniature golf tournament setup with qualifying matches planned for Tuesday night and women bidding for prize placements in a cash contest.
