Police say a 30 month old boy Donald Horst was found in the home of Mr and Mrs John Regan who admitted taking the child claiming to be the boy's parents. They demanded 5000 dollars ransom and said the child was born to Mrs Regan in 1935 while they were not married.
Harris County Judge Roy Hofheinz, noted as the youngest county judge and acclaimed speaker, appears in Del Rio tonight at 8 o clock to advocate for the fifth amendment vote in Texas on August 23.
Roy Hofheinz will address Del Rio residents tonight at 8 in the District Court Room on Amendment No Five to the Texas Constitution. The measure affects Harris County only and would let county road districts levy taxes for road building rather than issue bonds, with a pay as you go plan. Hofheinz, noted as the youngest county judge in the nation, began a 20 day, 60 city statewide tour on July 30.
The Terrell County grand jury met in Sanderson before Judge Brian Montague for the August term and returned no indictments as the court adjourned Tuesday afternoon. The court faces a very light docket in Sanderson.

Brewster County Chamber of Commerce forms a Del Rio committee to collect funds for the Big Bend National Park Fund. Members include Clarence Herreford Val Verde County judge L Rust Chase Daniel and Albert Cauthorn. The drive, endorsed by Gov James V Allred, aims to secure land for a Texas park and boost tourism through Del Rio with donations accepted locally.
William Houghton head of the Secret Service in this district said a four month investigation ended with the seizure of eight suspects linked to circulating most of the counterfeit money in the country. The raid recovered $20,000 in counterfeit bills.
The House labor committee voted to replace the House wage and hour bill with the Senate version while keeping the amendments already approved. San Angelo reports a predicted fall surge in cattle prices with beef steers and West Texas calves in strong demand. Forecasts show high prices at 9 to 10 cents a pound for 400 to 450 pound calves, amid rare feed surpluses and good grass. Missouri Illinois and Indiana wheat crop issues shift feed use toward cattle and hogs. Kansas City cattle receipts fall for July, with prices near record highs since 1929 and July highs since 1920. Hog receipts hit an all time July low while sheep receipts stay below last year.
Japanese authorities report continuous air bombardments routing western Chinese concentrations and opening a path for a northward advance toward Shantung. Nippon forces push along the Peiping Hankow line while plans to sink ships at Ming River are noted as a defensive measure.
