A juvenile report from Ahuacatlan Nay Mex states bandits abducted Gordon Obie Bristow demanding up to 30 000 pesos. After negotiations a partial 2 100 peso payment was agreed and Bristow was to be moved toward Tepic with plans for his release if conditions hold.
An alderman candidate Sheldon Govier faced a pistol crowd as seven men roared into the Illinois primary election scene. Police intervened, foiling the kidnap attempt amid gun play that left George Rudolph, 85, and others injured during the chaotic event.
Mrs Catherine Cochran 73 wife of Frank Cochran died Monday night due to heart trouble after a two year illness. Born in Missouri in 1857 she lived in Texas many years with moves through DeWitt San Angelo and Del Rio. Survived by husband daughter Mrs C C Belcher four grandchildren and others. Funeral at 4 pm Tuesday from the family residence with Rev Stallknecht officiating. Pallbearers named E K Fawcett J B Moore R T Hunnicutt Russ Hamilton A Madison.
Judge Roger Gillis vice president of the National Wool Marketing Corporation is in Washington for a joint Federal Farm Board meeting and corporate session. He also leads the Southwest Texas Wool and Moor Hair Marketing Corporation based in Del Rio.
Iowa officials report a jealous lover murdered Elinor Lahde 23 and Frank Potter 30 before shooting himself. Porter allegedly shot Elinor after she said she accepted another man, then turned the weapon on himself. Police theory cites a crime of passion.

John Finney, about 60, died Saturday night in Long Beach California. He lived in Del Rio until about two years ago when he moved to California. While in Del Rio he served as a mail carrier on the Rock Springs Del Rio route and retired about 1917. He is survived by three sons J J Finney San Antonio Harold Pinney Arizona and Ross Finney Arizona.

United Press reports Sydney Harry Fox Jr. was executed in Maidstone for killing his widowed mother. It marked England’s first matricide in five decades. Fox, described as a pleasant young man, was known locally as “Little Lord Pauntleroy.”
Roach McLymont team tops J C Penney Company 10 to 2 in four innings. Padilla allowed three hits and earned a three-bagger while Harrington struggled with seven Penney errors. United States commissioner Ly Smith refused bonds for William Poteet Earl Erwin Hardy Hay and Russell Reed all from San Angelo. They were arrested near Rock Springs by customs officers while transporting liquor including tequila cognac whiskey wine and alcohol in two cars. Poteet and Erwin pled guilty while Hay and Reed waived examining trials.

In Abilene on April 8 Arthur Brown a carpenter was released on recognizance pending bond arrangements after shooting John Holcomb oil field worker and Mrs Brown's former husband at Browns apartment The clash stemmed from an argument over two of Mrs Brown's children by marriage to Holcomb Holcomb was wounded but not seriously hurt, struck by two bullets from a small pistol.
City and county officers continued the search in Houston and Harris County for nine of the twelve inmates who bound the night jailer and escaped by sawing their way out of the county prison. Three of the escapees were captured yesterday.

A Terrell State Asylum petition to Governor Moody asks to end trusties being hired out for farm work. Terrell workmen say inmates take local jobs at wages others cannot match. The document lists thirty five signers and is dated April 8 in Austin.
During a Senate lobby committee hearing in Washington in April the exchange of insults between Senator from Alabama and J E Pierce editor of the Huntsville Times nearly led to a physical confrontation. Senator Walsh of Montana stopped the clash and restored order.
