Representative Patman of Texas urged the House Ways and Means Committee to scrap the Roosevelt tax program while the Treasury holds the world’s largest gold supply. He warned the gold could be used to issue new currency to cover government expenses and said taxes should not be levied while the gold remains idle.
Fifty five witnesses watched the German carpenter Bruno Hauptmann leave the state prison morgue after the electric chair execution for the Lindbergh murder. Police guarded the doors as the witnesses exited the death chamber in New Jersey.

John MacLeod a Scotsman gave ownership of the Elvira iron ore mine in Galdermer to the Spanish government stating the operation under labor conditions is too trying. He donated the mine and 14,000 tons of ore, asking that 250 workers continue to be employed and profits shared with them. Miners held a mass demonstration to honor him.
Three bandits robbed the Borden Milk Products Company in Dallas of 5700 dollars. They forced about a dozen employees to bow their heads during the robbery.
The Supreme Court ruled six to three that the Securities Commission cannot compel Edward Jones, a New York oil stocks dealer, to testify about a proposed securities issue. The decision halted compulsory self incrimination and unlawful search concerns, without ruling on the truth in securities act or the Guffey Coal Act.

Old Geld then hops 15 feet mine inches four feet beyond any standing broad jump.
Brisk winds Sunday afternoon swept a swirling dust storm through Del Rio and nearby areas, dropping temperatures by about 40 degrees in under 16 hours. Forecasters warned of colder weather and possible frost for the night.

The Texas wildlife conference won initial backing from the Texas Planning Board of its support and cooperation. Chairman W M Massie stressed members care about wildlife preservation in Texas and that the board will cooperate with agencies to advance conservation of game.

Del Rio residents vote Tuesday to elect two city commissioners in a race featuring seven candidates including Spike Daniel Frank Walton Otto Koog Edward LeRoy Frank Rose and Mike Averill. Balloting occurs at City Hall for north of San Felipe Creek and Diaz Hall for south of it with presiding judges and clerks named. Votes open 8 AM to 7 PM with Mayor Thomas Johnson unopposed.

On an April Saturday in New York four men robbed a Broadway bridge parlor taking $511 while trousers were knotted and soaked on 20 players. A victim hurled a chair from a window as Patrolman John Larkin pursued them. two men were arrested and two escaped. Officers found players sorting tangled trousers in the kitchen sink.
Eighty votes were cast in the Del Rio Independent School District trustees election. Incumbent J. A. Forman and Pattie Jo Hamilton ran unopposed for three year terms. Board canvassing and oath of office will occur at a Thursday meeting with election officials Tom Miller Albert Cauthors Mrs Natt Holman and Mrs J W Robinson serving as clerks.
The Texas planning board asked county judges and commissioners to help compile data on mineral resources. Letters with maps and known resource lists were sent to counties and planning boards. Judges were urged to add any additional information to improve coverage.
Raymndville April 6 A major company erects a rig to drill a deep test in Willacy County a test to 9200 feet with potential coastal records. Geologists expect oil in Willacy and Cameron Counties but in salt domes not structures. Several companies hold about 100 acres under lease in the two counties. A salt lake well begun years ago was abandoned.
Bob Alexander of Childress County announces candidacy for re election as representative of the 121st district which includes Childress Cottle Motley and Hall Counties. He seeks continued service in the state house.
